I've only been on this job for four days, but last night's debate irritated me enough that I really did not want to go bug people about voting.

(Sigh. This is my conundrum with working for political campaigns. I would not like getting phone calls and visits from volunteers all the time--it feels like nagging, and I hate being nagged. But I want to get these people elected, and statistics say that this works. I hate doing it, but I want to be active. Bah.)

Of course, I did go tonight, since I'm not a volunteer; I'm going to get paid for this, and therefore need to show up.

But the thing is, we've got two 13-year-old volunteers. I think it's great--go them if they want to be active.

Apparently, however, people object to this. One of the kids was telling me today about how he got yelled at on the phone by this guy who thinks that people who aren't old enough to vote have no business working for political campaigns. And tonight another person called with the same issue and had to talk to a manager.

Oh my God, people, are you serious? You actually object to kids volunteering because they can't vote--even though volunteering is about the only thing they can do to affect an election? They have as much of a stake in any election as any other citizen, and here they are, trying to get their voices heard, and you think that because they can't vote, they can't do anything. I'd think people would be glad to see kids with a social conscience!

Jesus fucking Christ. My faith in humanity today is about nil.

I've been plagiarized again. This is the original, posted more than four years ago. And I think this is the third time I've been plagiarized. WTF is up with that? I mean, yeah it's sorta flattering that someone likes my story enough to want to claim it, but...MY STORY. NO TOUCHY. If you like it that much, rec it, don't steal it. And this one seems particularly stupid--not only did she lift the entire thing word-for-word, she kept the title. People usually at least change the title. Gah. I've reported it, so hopefully it'll get removed soon, but knowing the ff.net management, I can't be sure. *sigh*

In other news, I--unsurprisingly--have more thoughts about DW. I've made a couple other posts about Ten's character arc, especially as it relates to the Lonely God thing, and Midnight sparked those thoughts again. Spoilers for 4x10.

Apparently LJ is being a dick again, sigh. Well, I've got accounts on both GreatestJournal and InsaneJournal, though I really don't think I'm going to use either unless fandom and all my friends also migrate. Still, if anyone wants to look me up, I'm rynne on both.

Jesus Christ, I go away for the weekend and fandom explodes.

I think the current state of affairs with the whole deletions thing is somewhat scary, but not surprising, considering the political and cultural climate of this country right now. I can't say I'm not a bit alarmed, considering I've written an incest story, along with several porny fics where the characters are technically underage (though still at least sixteen), but I don't have anything objectionable in my interests, and I'm not locking down this journal at all, not even the fics with the adult content--including the incest one.

I can't really contribute much to the discussion, but I'm definitely going to be watching what's going on.

Talk about my very first con, and the wonderful time I had there, to come later, when I'm not so tired, both physically and with the internet in general.

Someone backed into my car in the parking lot at work today.

Well, barely. All they did was scratch the paint on my front bumper. But I was working when one of my coworkers runs up to me as is like, "Someone backed into your car!" That was just...omg. Considering I've only had my car for two months, and it is a very nice 2004 (and the newest car in my family)...yeah. I ran outside to look at it, but the damage is thankfully so negligible that I had to have someone point it out to me before I noticed.

Still. Someone backed into my car, and then ran away, so I don't even know who it is. They didn't even stick around to see how bad it was. (Isn't that illegal? Hitting someone and then leaving?)

Stupid, stupid people!

Also, I hate Hot August Nights. It makes traffic hell.
