So. Last night I was installing recommended updates for my computer, including one for the OS. Then when I do the required restart, all I get is a gray screen with an icon in the middle of a blinking file folder with a question mark in it. I just went to the tech guys here, and they said that something the computer needed to start up was probably left out or something when it updated, and that I would probably need my specific OS installation CD to get anywhere.

My installation CD? Is at home. Hadn't really thought I'd need it up here, what with the OS already being installed and all.

Anyway, now I'm going to have to use a library computer until I can get my parents to mail the CD up to me. *sigh*

Sigh.

So, my power cord finally died so much that I couldn't get it to work even with fiddling with it. My battery didn't last long after that. My computer won't turn on anymore, and the tech guys can't do anything with hardware; they said I'll need to buy a new cord from the manufacturer, or something like that.

Thank you for doing that, computer, when I had several different papers that I needed to print out, and now will have to reproduce somehow.

I'm in the library computer lab, which I guess I'll have to be using until I leave, which means that I'll probably be online even less often than I have been in the past several days. But thankfully, it is finals week, and after I leave on Sunday, I'm home for three and a half months. I will have to get a job, but I should still finally have enough time to write a bunch of fic.

Dunno when comments will be answered, or when I'll get to comment on various fics that I've been meaning to read.

I'm totally not amused at how much use my "technology sucks" tag is getting lately.

My computer is plugged in, but it keeps using the battery and says I need to plug in. What the hell? Why isn't the power cord working? It's not getting frayed, like my last power cord...

agkljadfklgafdkg. This is why I need a new computer.

Stupid, stupid cell phone! It has this strange habit of storing my voice mail and giving it to me at some random point a week or so after someone left the voice message along with other recent messages (so I get a bunch of them at once), instead of being sensible and giving it to me the next time I turn my phone on. Usually it's not that much of a problem, as I rarely get calls and they're usually not important.

Except that a week and a half or so ago, someone left an important message, I got it today, and now it's pretty much too late to do anything about it. Ragkjd. I'll call back tomorrow and explain, but that was really frustrating.

Stupid Verizon. Why did you do that to me?

And this isn't even mentioning my credit card fiasco...

I'm not having a good semester at all.

shit!

Computer's power cord frayed enough for wires to start breaking, and now it's stopped working. Nothing but battery for me until I can get it replaced, which will hopefully be soon. But until then, time on computer will be drastically reduced. Hopefully campus bookstore will have something, but if not, will probably have to order one.

Buggerit. Perhaps will be a good thing for my grades (will have to do homework instead of read fanfic and LJ!), and I can go to the library computer lab, but can't spend so much time on computer anymore.

Gragshkgsd.

If I needed proof that I should get a new computer...

My laptop wouldn't turn on today. I don't know why, since it worked fine last night. But today, I press the button to turn it on, and the green lights come on, but the monitor doesn't do anything.

Anyone know what's going on, what I could do to fix it, have any advice, etc?

eta: Okay, working now. I unplugged it and looked at it and took the battery out then put it back in, and then it started working fine again. I have no idea why. V. weird.
