It seems everyone I've talked to about this movie has strong opinions about it; either they love it or they hate it. I wouldn't say I loved it, but I did really, really like it--it was a bloody long movie, but it didn't really seem that way, unlike Dead Man's Chest.
Frankly, one of the things that made that movie for me was the resolution of Will and Elizabeth's relationship--I love what happened to Will. Love it. I've always been sorta lukewarm about this pairing, and I don't think I'm going to really be a shipper, but I love the way it was in this movie. The betrayals and the distrust and all the problems they had, and how that suddenly becomes unimportant in the face of imminent death so they decide to get married in the middle of the goddamn battle, and then Will having to become Captain of the Flying Dutchman.... Their relationship was messy, and fierce, and they're never going to have enough time to work out all the issues they have, and contrary to my typical love of happily-ever-after pairings, I was really happy with the way W/E turned out. They were pretty much an ordinary couple in Curse of the Black Pearl, then they were confusing in Dead Man's Chest, but At World's End has totally made them interesting.
I so want fanfic dealing with how they only get to see each other one day every ten years, and I especially want fic about when Elizabeth dies and Will has to ferry her. Really, I just want good post-AWE fic; I took temporary leave of my sense and looked in ff.net, and completely aside from the usual grammar issues--why the hell are there so many fics about freeing Will from the Flying Dutchman? The W/E relationship is so much more interesting because of that.
I might have more to say about this movie later, but I think I'll shut up about it for now. And I still want good fic.
I also got the first DVD of Sports Night from Netflix, and I liked it. It's a good show, but unless it becomes amazing later on, I think it'll be a casual like.
