I have absolutely no idea how many times I said "Oh bother" today. It was a lot, I know. Surprisingly a lot. I felt very much like Winnie the Pooh. o.O

...I think I just heard my mother say "Woot". O.O

BANANA BREAD! *dies of happiness* *eats and becomes bloated* XD

Anyway. I had a BRILLIANTLY FUN day today! I and some friends went tubing down the Truckee River (at one point, my twin joked that we were t00bing, but as t00bing and tubing sound the same, I was the only one to understand what she was talking about. *g* The benefits of having a sister on the outskirts of fandom...which reminds me. Her first fic is up at TDA--yes, I coded it myself :p--so read and review it. It's good, really! Draco/Pansy, with realistic characterizations. AND GOOD GRAMMAR! :D).

Anyway. Back to my t00b trip. *g* On inner tubes. I'd say it's almost more fun than whitewater rafting, being as I'm not stuck in a boat and I don't have to hold onto a paddle or bail water, but definite cons are being hit and scraped by rocks. A lot of them, in fact. And sadly, they were not Remus Lupin. *g* Especially as I fell out of my tube at one point and the current was going too fast for me to get back in, so I was just practically swimming through rapids (probably only level two, but still), and I got much scraped and bruised. Was much fun though. <33

...Am going to get my schedule for next year tomorrow (blast, school starts again on August 30 and I haven't done any of my AP summer reading yet--Song of Solomon, Catch-22, and Crime and Punishment). At nine am. XD And then friends and I are going school supply shopping. Bother.

Anyway, other stuff. Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] silver_rising.

Yet Another Harry Potter Meme
What's your One, True Pairing (OTP)?Remus/Sirius
What's your secondary pairing?...? Other pairings what? Erm dunno maybe Harry/Remus or Harry/Tom?
What common fandom ship makes you gag?Remus/Snape
What common fandom ship makes you laugh, because it's so ridiculous?None, really. Some uncommon ships make me laugh, but the common ones generally have reasoning behind them (even if I don't agree with it).
What ship(s) do you consider canon?Lily/James, Molly/Arthur...XD *Close* to canon ships would be Remus/Sirius and Ron/Hermione
What is the squickiest fandom ship you've seen?Fred/George and Padma/Parvati. *can't do twincest*
If you could have JKR's ear, what ship would you:
Beg her for?Remus/Sirius
Beg her not to use?Remus/Snape (not that she would, thank GOD)
Expect her to throw you out for mentioning?Harry/Tom Riddle XD
Canon questions
Could the Prophecy refer to Neville after all?Sure. There's a very interesting debate about that on HPfGU...
Could it refer to Ginny? (We don't know when her birthday is)...Never thought of that, but I doubt it.
Will Sirius return from the veil?Doubt it, muchly. Would totally destroy the Greek tragic hero bit.
Who's the Half-Blood Prince?Godric Gryffindor or Salazar Slytherin
Which major character will be the next to die?Dumbledore
Which character you adore are you afraid will die?Ron
Which annoying character do you hope will die?Umbridge

I love [livejournal.com profile] green_fairy_. Those Notes to Admin for "Suspended"? They rocked. Every single coder (well, I can't imagine any who wouldn't) loves it when people say such nice things in their notes to admin. Yay! *glomps you*

Bother. Am tired and have to get up early tomorrow. Will be sure to finish dinging first though--AT is a nightmare. >.< And I have to answer comments and emails like whoa. Bother...

It is the one ship I WILL NOT READ EVER, even if a fic is recced to me. *shudders at the very thought* Should my favorite fanfic author in the world write Remus/Snape (not that she would, as she doesn't like it either *g*), I wouldn't read it. My antipathy mostly comes from the lines "'I'll drag the werewolf. Perhaps the dementors will have a kiss for him too--'", though I have other reasons. I just...eurgh. *shudders* Can't stand the pairing.

Not much of a Remus/Snape fan myself. Or a Remus/Lucius fan. Or, in fact, much of a fan of any ship including anyone named Malfoy. They all tend to make my stomach turn--the stories, that is. So I rarely read them.

Who is your favorite fanfic author in the world, btw?

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
The Malfoys are my least favorite characters (well, the male ones. Narcissa's interesting, because she used to be a Black. :p), so I don't really like much of any ship involving them, much less with my favorite character Remus.

My favorite author is [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose ^_^. (And how lucky am I that she's grown to be one of my best online friends, and that I'm meeting her later this month? *incredibly excited*) There's just something so real about her fics, so much more than anything else I've read. And then, of course, she ships nearly exactly the same things I do, which is quite nice :). I just <33 her.

Date: 2004-08-03 06:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antosha-c.livejournal.com
Agreed on the Malfoys. Narcissa might be interesting--but only because we know so little about here, aside from the fact that she's Bellatrix's sister and Sirius's cousin, and has a smirk plastered on her face during the Quidditch World Cup.

I asked for the rec because you read so much fanfiction. Thanks. I've gone off and read a couple of [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose's Marauder pieces, which are quite lovely.

I have just realized that you are, in fact, still in high school. Don't know why, but based on the tone of your writing, etc, I had assumed you were older....

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Yes, still in high school, sigh. Almost done, though! This year will be my last, and I'm taking a college class as well. People generally assume that I'm older than I am, and when I told them I was sixteen, most were rather amazed...^^;

From: [identity profile] antosha-c.livejournal.com
Well, congratulations (on graduating this year).

I think, aside from your tone, which is very adult, I think the thing that threw me off was your being a coder for one of my early fics--it's the old 'authority person must be older than me' thing.

I spent my youth having people assume I was older than I was. It has it's advantages...

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Heh, we've got two coders who are two years younger than I am--one turned fifteen at the end of June. She's also loads more mature than I am :p. If I didn't know she was fifteen, I'd place her as at least ten, if not more, years older than that. But I coded one of your fics? I can't remember, I've done so many that they all sorta blur together... XD

:-)

I didn't expect you to remember. Yeah, I think you coded one of the chapters for my post-Hogwarts fic, Facing Backwards (http://www.astronomytower.org/authorLinks/Antosha/Facing_Backwards/). But I could be wrong.

I feel the exact same way about Remus/Snape, except that my antipathy toward the pairing stems from my antipathy toward Snape *g*. I just don't want to have that miserable bastard touch any of my favorite characters -- Remus, Sirius, Hermione, Harry...

Besides, everyone knows Remus belongs with Sirius :P

From: [identity profile] antosha-c.livejournal.com
You know, until I wandered down the fandom rabbit-hole and read [livejournal.com profile] thieving_gypsy's Fairy Boys stories, that ship never occurred to me. (I'm not much of a slasher by nature.) Now it seems totally canon--to the point where I fully expected Gary Oldman to plant a fat wet one on David Thelwys in the PoA film....

I don't much like Snape, and he is a rather miserable bastard :p, but I'm all right with seeing him with anyone who's not Remus (and Sirius/Snape is just entirely mind-boggling). It's just that Remus is my favorite character like whoa, and I just really can't stand the thought of him with someone who was willing to have him given the Dementor's Kiss without proper evidence that he deserved it (never mind that I don't think anyone deserves it). There's also that it's very hard for me to think of Snape as a sexual being XD.

blast, school starts again on August 30 and I haven't done any of my AP summer reading yet--Song of Solomon, Catch-22, and Crime and Punishment

You too?!?! *grins* I don't have to read Song of Solomon, but I do have to read the other two. I haven't start Crime and Punishment, and my school starts Wednesday. *cries* Catch-22 took me too long to read because I kept falling asleep.

It's not a bad book though. I doesn't really...make sense until you get to the middle, so just grit your teeth through the beginning. It does get really good at the end (has more emotional meaning to me then), but I won't spoil it.

I'm so screwed for C&P. *sighs* And I still have to do the 15 entry journal for it, write a precis for it, read Sophocles three tragic plays, and write a speech. All before Wednesday. Gr. Oh well, it's my own fault anyways.

Do you just have to read those, or are there other assignments with them?

Date: 2004-08-02 04:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Hee. Lucky me, all I have to do is read them. No assignments :D. (Which makes me very happy, as I've always had to do assignments with summer reading, and now I'm glad I don't.)

I still haven't started them yet, but I'm not worried--I'm a very fast reader, and can still absorb details and stuff. In middle school I read the unabridged version of Les Miserables (about 1400 pages) in two days and got 100% on the AR (Accelerated Reader--do you have that?) test. And I still have nearly a month to read these books, which is no problem. Good luck with yours!

What what what? You didn't really like Catch-22? I thought it was brill.. there were some boring bits.. but Yossarian is best! And the whole not-making-sense thing is part of its charm. It did get alot more emotional though nearing the end didn't it... -scowls at Milo-

Yes, I liked Catch-22 very much.

I like Catch-22. It just took me a while to like it; the beginning was brutal on me. But as it started progressing, then I started to like it.

My fave's still Pride and Prejudice though. ^^;;

Pride and Prejudice -shudders- I really should try and read it, but I watched the movie of it when I was younger and that's scared me away from it... >_>

From: [identity profile] tinitinytina.livejournal.com
Which movie did you want? I have a copy of the 1995 version with Collin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, and I rather like it. It's long, but very faithful to the book and quite enjoyable (unless it's 4AM in the morning and you're just waiting for it to end, finally!).

The book takes a while to really grow on you, but I find it too amusing not to like. And it is rather 'light' and 'fluffy' which I find a refreshing thing in literature.

Date: 2004-08-03 12:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] paradox01.livejournal.com
Actually I'm not quite sure :S, I was 5 or 6 at the time and don't remember much except that it was very romancey, very long and the characters had very tangled love lives? Come to think of it, yes, considering how vague my first impression of it was, I really should give it a go.. Light and fluffy sounds good though I generally prefer when reading romance (which is rarely) angst. Ahh, one can never get too much lovely angst. :D

Lol. I can totally sympathise with you on the whole reading-books-till-very-early-hours-of-the-morning thing... I don't know if you've read any Terry Pratchett (sci fi/humour author whose works are brill btw) but even *his* writings don't seem funny to me at those hours.

PS: I'm friending you, because basically you seem like a cool person, and I really did like your Minerva fic for the saeva fic challenge ;)

Haha, we're spamming Rynne's LJ ^_^

Date: 2004-08-04 04:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tinitinytina.livejournal.com
Well, P&P is a romance book of all sorts, so one mustn't expect the characters to have non-tangled lives, eh? And while I agree that I love reading angst when I read romance (which isn't often either), some people don't know when to stop. I often read stories with so much angst that it detracts from the quality, and occasional light fluff is good for the soul.

But yes, I thrive on angst. :D I prefer sad, or bittersweet, endings to happy endings any day.

I actually haven't read Terry Prachett, although I do plan to sometime. I love sci-fi/fantasy. :D

Friended back! Mind you though, my life isn't that interesting, really. Just the usual overview of my day and events. I don't have writings posted there usually. But I would love to get to know you better. Is your bio up to date? Because if you're really still 13, I commend you for being one of the most mature, intelligent 13-year-olds I've ever met in my life. ^_^

Re: Haha, we're spamming Rynne's LJ ^_^

Bittersweet endings are great - I normally love that in books... though I would probably be very angry with JKR if she did that for HP... fandom has made me too attached to the characters -sigh-

Yesh - Pratchett is the God of sci-fi-fantasy-humour. All hail him.

Heh, I don't think my journal is very interesting either - and for now I've sort of stopped writing fics. Yup I'm 13 but.. mature? -stares- Intelligent? Me? -gags- Nonono... I am your typical Semi-Angsty-HP-Obsessing-Freak teen! :D Immaturity forever! Bwa ha.
