Oh bother...
Aug. 1st, 2004 08:44 pmI have absolutely no idea how many times I said "Oh bother" today. It was a lot, I know. Surprisingly a lot. I felt very much like Winnie the Pooh. o.O
...I think I just heard my mother say "Woot". O.O
BANANA BREAD! *dies of happiness* *eats and becomes bloated* XD
Anyway. I had a BRILLIANTLY FUN day today! I and some friends went tubing down the Truckee River (at one point, my twin joked that we were t00bing, but as t00bing and tubing sound the same, I was the only one to understand what she was talking about. *g* The benefits of having a sister on the outskirts of fandom...which reminds me. Her first fic is up at TDA--yes, I coded it myself :p--so read and review it. It's good, really! Draco/Pansy, with realistic characterizations. AND GOOD GRAMMAR! :D).
Anyway. Back to my t00b trip. *g* On inner tubes. I'd say it's almost more fun than whitewater rafting, being as I'm not stuck in a boat and I don't have to hold onto a paddle or bail water, but definite cons are being hit and scraped by rocks. A lot of them, in fact. And sadly, they were not Remus Lupin. *g* Especially as I fell out of my tube at one point and the current was going too fast for me to get back in, so I was just practically swimming through rapids (probably only level two, but still), and I got much scraped and bruised. Was much fun though. <33
...Am going to get my schedule for next year tomorrow (blast, school starts again on August 30 and I haven't done any of my AP summer reading yet--Song of Solomon, Catch-22, and Crime and Punishment). At nine am. XD And then friends and I are going school supply shopping. Bother.
Anyway, other stuff. Gacked from

Date: 2004-08-02 11:26 am (UTC)You too?!?! *grins* I don't have to read Song of Solomon, but I do have to read the other two. I haven't start Crime and Punishment, and my school starts Wednesday. *cries* Catch-22 took me too long to read because I kept falling asleep.
It's not a bad book though. I doesn't really...make sense until you get to the middle, so just grit your teeth through the beginning. It does get really good at the end (has more emotional meaning to me then), but I won't spoil it.
I'm so screwed for C&P. *sighs* And I still have to do the 15 entry journal for it, write a precis for it, read Sophocles three tragic plays, and write a speech. All before Wednesday. Gr. Oh well, it's my own fault anyways.
Do you just have to read those, or are there other assignments with them?

Date: 2004-08-02 04:10 pm (UTC)I still haven't started them yet, but I'm not worried--I'm a very fast reader, and can still absorb details and stuff. In middle school I read the unabridged version of Les Miserables (about 1400 pages) in two days and got 100% on the AR (Accelerated Reader--do you have that?) test. And I still have nearly a month to read these books, which is no problem. Good luck with yours!

I have just realized that you are, in fact, still in high school. Don't know why, but based on the tone of your writing, etc, I had assumed you were older....

Date: 2004-08-03 11:56 am (UTC)The book takes a while to really grow on you, but I find it too amusing not to like. And it is rather 'light' and 'fluffy' which I find a refreshing thing in literature.

Date: 2004-08-03 12:41 pm (UTC)Lol. I can totally sympathise with you on the whole reading-books-till-very-early-hours-of-the-morning thing... I don't know if you've read any Terry Pratchett (sci fi/humour author whose works are brill btw) but even *his* writings don't seem funny to me at those hours.
PS: I'm friending you, because basically you seem like a cool person, and I really did like your Minerva fic for the saeva fic challenge ;)

Haha, we're spamming Rynne's LJ ^_^
Date: 2004-08-04 04:22 pm (UTC)But yes, I thrive on angst. :D I prefer sad, or bittersweet, endings to happy endings any day.
I actually haven't read Terry Prachett, although I do plan to sometime. I love sci-fi/fantasy. :D
Friended back! Mind you though, my life isn't that interesting, really. Just the usual overview of my day and events. I don't have writings posted there usually. But I would love to get to know you better. Is your bio up to date? Because if you're really still 13, I commend you for being one of the most mature, intelligent 13-year-olds I've ever met in my life. ^_^

Date: 2004-08-04 07:41 pm (UTC)I think, aside from your tone, which is very adult, I think the thing that threw me off was your being a coder for one of my early fics--it's the old 'authority person must be older than me' thing.
I spent my youth having people assume I was older than I was. It has it's advantages...

Re: Haha, we're spamming Rynne's LJ ^_^
Date: 2004-08-05 12:28 pm (UTC)Yesh - Pratchett is the God of sci-fi-fantasy-humour. All hail him.
Heh, I don't think my journal is very interesting either - and for now I've sort of stopped writing fics. Yup I'm 13 but.. mature? -stares- Intelligent? Me? -gags- Nonono... I am your typical Semi-Angsty-HP-Obsessing-Freak teen! :D Immaturity forever! Bwa ha.
