google virus

My mom told me that she heard on the news that there was a virus being passed around via Google. Does anyone know anything more about this, especially if it affects gmail users? My mom didn't have any other information, aside from that people were mad about Google stocks or something and hacked in to make a virus, and she warned me about it because I've had a lot of problems with viruses lately. And I don't fancy getting another one because of my email provider, so if anyone has any information, that would be very nice.

Thanks! I don't think I have to worry as much then--if it just spreads by email, then I just have to avoid opening odd emails :).

Er, the only virus things I've heard about Google are that their servers crashed a bit from the MyDoom virus: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3927963.stm

Yeah, but I hadn't heard that much about it other than it was doing things to Google, and I wanted to be sure that nothing that bad would happen to gmail users.

Yeah, we were hit really hard with MyDoom today at work. It was a nightmare. To be fair, the emails are brilliantly disguised. It's easy to see why people are opening 'em.

But Google doesn't have anything to do with it (though I'll ask the IT techs at work tomorrow if they've heard of anything like that).
