rynne: (oooh sparkly! (more thanks to xsynstar!))

If this isn't an occasion for the sparkly icon, I don't know what is...

Anyway, because I'm always up for some entertainment and comments *snicker*, if you'd like to participate in my version of the 1000-post meme (dude, when did I become such a memesheep?) currently making the rounds of my flist, you have two options.

1. Post something random. Maybe a link to a story you liked that we can subsequently squee over. A random comment is fine. Whatever works.

2. Comments round-robin. Take the beginning of this story and continue it.

It was a dark and stormy night. Remus and Sirius were at Remus's house, watching the lightning flash across the sky and listening to the thunder roll.

"Let's go outside, Moony," Sirius suggested suddenly, looking away from the window.

Remus blinked, taken aback. "But it's storming!" he protested.

"So?" Sirius asked, then grinned mischievously and darted from the room, heading for the front door.
Now your turn!

And as added incentive, I will write custom-ordered fic (as long as there is no Remus/Snape, Remus/Tonks, or James/Sirius requested) for whoever posts comment #1000. I will drabble for whoever gets comments 100, 200, 300, etc. Be sure to announce it, if you're the person with any of those comment numbers, as I'll probably miss it myself.

Dude, Neil Gaiman touched your bum? When? Where? Neil Gaiman!

It was COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT. Ahahahahaha. I don't think he even realized he did it.

I actually don't think you were reading my journal back then, so you have no idea of my craziness regarding Neil. He remembered us at the second signing we went to a month later. And he actually remembers my two friends and me in other countries. Like when [livejournal.com profile] hijack went to a book signing in England, she asked if he remembered the people who always wait at the back of the line, and he cut her off, saying that he remembered us. He's SO NICE. So so so nice.

Anyway, he was moving to hug me in this picture (it's huge) and his hand was a bit too low and he ended up accidentally touching my bum.

By the way, I look crazy in that picture like I'm practically peeing over meeting Neil, but I totally wasn't. He'd said something absolutely hilarious as the picture was taking, so I'm laughing, not going, "OMG SQUEEEEEEEEE!!"

I'm jealous. I so wish that I could meet a famous author guy like Neil Gaiman.

Neil is by far the easiest author to meet ever. He does so many signings. And he's definitely the coolest because he's so incredibly nice, and he's really, really easy to talk to and he's just... gah. Neil is a wonderful man and I absolutely adore him.

I'm considering spending the greater part of my weekend next weekend to go down to South Beach and buy Bill Clinton's new book and wait in line for him to sign it.

No famous author ever comes to Reno, or anywhere close enough to be convenient, for me to get a book signing. Once Terry Brooks almost came, but there were storms in Hawaii and it wasn't safe for him to leave ;_;.

How close is Reno to Vegas?

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Erm. Dunno how many miles, but it's an eight/nine hour drive, and an hour and a half flight. My little sister and my dad just went down there for softball tournement o_O.

O_O. That's insane. But it's fun to roadtrip to a signing. If you're going with people who are as equally into it as you are.

Heh. Save for the fact that, crossing Nevada, you will see sagebrush and desert. That is Nevada. I've never driven down to Vegas, but I've driven across it towards Utah, and there's a reason our state plant is sagebrush. There is absolutely nothing to look at, very few towns to drive through, and is just generally boring.

Hee. You're preaching to the choir. Florida is flat as hell, and there's just trees. And not exciting trees. Just... trees. I seriously yell, "COW!" every time I see a cow, that's how boring driving through Florida is.

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Trees are still better than sagebrush and dirt, though.

(We have ranches. Sometimes. Lots of cows. Though more up here in the north, I think)

Well, Nevada has some mountains. They are covered in sagebrush.

Mountains amaze me. They make me squish my face up against a car window. And yes, I suppose that trees are better than dirt and sagebrush.

Come to Reno, we've got lots of mountains here. We are in a valley in the Sierra Nevadas, and to get practically anywhere you have to drive through mountains.

Reno is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far away. But when I eventually roadtrip out to California, I'll definitely go to Nevada because I've always wanted to go to Vegas. For their roller coasters and their shopping. Because I'm too young to gamble.

If you go to Vegas, come up to Reno too! Unless, of course, I have moved myself far away from this miserable state, which I plan to do within the next year or so when I finally go to college.

Nevada really encourages gambling. There's slot machines in grocery stores. *is completely serious*

From: [identity profile] immortalis.livejournal.com
Yeah, my parents used to tell me all about it. They went so many times and never took me along. *grumble*

Where are you thinking about going to college? Which is way too serious to discuss while also talking about America shagging things, but still. It's on topic. Heh.

Oregon or Washington. Somewhere with rain and that is still West Coast, because...eh, West Coast is just my home and I like living here.

Seattle is apparently an awesome town, and looking at your journal, you're going there soon, which is neat and fun.

Date: 2004-06-19 02:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Yes, I've heard the same from like lots of people. It's my first time going there and dude, I so want to. Seattle appears to have everything that I could want, though I'll have to see what it's like myself.

It's where Starbucks and grunge were founded. How could it not be cool?

Date: 2004-06-19 03:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
I've never had anything from Starbucks. I don't think I've ever seen one in Nevada. I don't remember.

*must go to Seattle*

Starbucks is what keeps me a functioning individual. I even made my own drink there. The white chocolate mocha with a shot of raspberry syrup in it. It tastes like raspberry cheesecake and is toe-curlingly good.

From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
I have heard from many that Starbucks is what keeps college students in general functioning individuals. Maybe it means that I should develop a taste for coffee sooner or later. *muses*

Date: 2004-06-19 03:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] immortalis.livejournal.com
Yeah. In Gainesville alone, there are four Starbucks. One is within walking distance from campus and I went there almost every day.

What I recommend for developing a taste for coffee is to try their frappuccinos (or however you spell it) first. Like a caramel one that isn't very coffee-ish. Then try the white chocolate mocha drink because that doesn't taste like coffee at all, really. My goal is to eventually be able to drink coffee black because that's so cool to say.
