After much computer stupidity and emailing back and forth with Loup Noir...

I AM A CODER!

Now I just have to find three hours for the training...let's see, volunteering at Earth Day in two hours, then swordfighting for three...probably not today. And then finals are coming up in two weeks and I have to study...meh, I will find time. Probably tomorrow.

And I will reply to all the comments from that post yesterday (ooooooh there's a lot...). It might take awhile, as am very very busy, but I will do it!

And eventually do more of those drabbles, and write my fic for the Regulus challenge, and finish my fic for the Regulus Arc...

*facepalm*

Hee. Yes, I'm sure it will be, but I've wanted to be a coder almost as long as I've been at FA, and I'm glad I finally get the chance. It might take a bit of trial and error before I can reconcile being a coder to also being an eMentor and having a real life, but I can try!

Erm...*blushes* What exactly does a coder do?

Heh. I'll have a better idea of what we do once I've done that training, but what I'm assuming we do now is code the fics for uploading at FictionAlley.

So... it literally (most likely) involves hand coding text-stories into HTML? Eeesh. :O

(And how much free time do they expect you to have? :P)

Well, I'm not sure yet, but that's my best guess so far, and I've done it before for my own stories, but this way I get to read them before everyone else does...ehehehe. And they told us we only need 10 hours a week for it, as there's a bunch of coders, and I'm sure I can find ten hours a week, especially once the semester's over in mid-May...

We used to hand code but for about two years, we've had a program that auto-does that part. The coders (I'm trying to get people to call it 'fic intake team' but I'm not doing a good job being consistent, myself) read the fics that come in to make sure they meet FA minimums on things like grammar & spelling & canon-faithfulness - if you want to do a fic with James & Tom Riddle in the same year, we won't upload it unless you add AU to the summary ;)

You need to write more. *mocks my mother saying you shouldn't commit yourself to so much and blahblahblah*

And congrats!
