allisonblair and
ohelise. Enjoy, sweethearts.
Everyone knew that James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Sirius Black were close. It was obvious, looking at how they and their other friend Peter Pettigrew were always talking and laughing with each other, helping each other with homework and studying, and how fiercely protective of each other they were.
But what not everyone knew exactly how close they were.
Not everyone knew why James Potter’s interest in Lily Evans would sometimes taper off before returning full force.
Not everyone knew why exactly Remus Lupin turned down all invitations to go to Hogsmeade, or even to just find a nice private broom closet.
Not everyone knew why Sirius Black, one of the ladies’ men of Hogwarts, suddenly began to refuse all invitations to said broom closets.
Not everyone knew that oftentimes of a night, it would be three bodies sleeping behind the scarlet curtains of the four-poster bed rather than one.
Peter Pettigrew knew, of course, but no one ever listened to him. He wasn’t the enthusiastic Gryffindor Chaser with a joke or prank for everything. He wasn’t the cocky, exciting boy who turned his back on his Dark Arts family. He wasn’t the strangely attractive tired-looking boy who was always gentle and helpful, even to Slytherins. What he was was Peter, and that was all.
But oh, what he knew that no one else did.
He knew why Remus would always give Sirius lingering touches.
He knew why James often took to staring at Remus.
He knew why Sirius would use any excuse to wrestle with James.
He knew why James and Sirius would follow when Remus would disappear behind his bed curtains.
But Peter would keep his knowledge to himself. After all, wasn’t that what friends were for?

He knew why Sirius would use any excuse to wrestle with James.
Wrestling? Two words: OH. YES.
You are the shiningest. *Nods*
Mmm...
Date: 2004-03-10 02:56 pm (UTC)I always really enjoy this pairing, and anything from Peter's point of view is always extra-poignant. I did feel sorry for him though. And its great to hear there's more S/J/R coming!
