"Don't go where I can't follow"

I felt the sudden intense need for Return of the King: Extended Edition, so that's playing now. It will last past when I should go to bed, but whatevs.

Nearly fifteen years since I first read the trilogy, and it's still probably my most favorite thing ever. I mean, it's so perfect I feel no need for fanfiction. I have my issues with the movies, but I feel like Peter Jackson managed to capture the spirit of Tolkien, so I forgive him for the things I wish weren't in there. (Like Frodo rejecting Sam. WTF? I mean, I know I'm supposed to be sad there, and I sort of am, but that's mostly drowned out by irritation. XD I also really miss the Scouring of the Shire.)

Also, first time watching this movie since getting into Star Trek. HI KARL URBAN.

I've never read the books, so can't really comment, and I love the Extended Editions of LOTR. But even I was WTF-ing about Frodo rejecting Sam. It didn't really make sense.

Karl Urban is always awesome. ALWAYS. Even when he was getting his camp on in Xena :D

Well, it's not so much that it didn't make sense for me -- part of what the Ring does is make its bearers really paranoid about people taking it. But it wasn't in the book, and while normally I'd let that go, one of the things I liked best about Frodo and Sam's storyline was how steadfast they were. The other things the movies added were stuff that I could see happening, even if they didn't, but this -- could not happen. Just couldn't.

Hee. I know he was in Xena, but my watching of that show has always been ridiculously spotty. And I am not very good at recognizing actors. XD

Hi! This doesn't have much to do with your actual post, I'm afraid, but if you are the Rynne who remixed my fic, YOU ARE TOTALLY AWESOME and I wanted to tell you so.
