I have not been around very much the past several days because I had a bunch of books out of the library and I had to obsessively read them. XD But now I've finished them, so I'm back, but still don't have that much content. Instead, have a meme. Seen all over the flist.

1. When did you start watching?

Christmas 2007

1a. Why?

Twin got S1 for Christmas and decided I was going to watch it with her. I was fine with that, since I'd heard about it around my flist. I didn't expect it to become my next obsession, though. :p

2. What was your first episode?

"Rose."

3. Which episodes have you seen?

All of New Who, and probably about half of Classic Who. (Well, less than half if we count the One and Two serials that have been lost, but since I don't have the option of watching those eventually, I won't count them.)

3a. Favourite?

"The Parting of the Ways". I once wrote a 10,000 word essay on why I love this episode so much. I think it's probably my favorite episode of any TV show I've ever seen, honestly.

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?

Well, Twin is the one who got me started on it, but that's about it for family. For friends, I've managed to hook [livejournal.com profile] velesia and [livejournal.com profile] heart_of_man onto it as well. Bwahahaha.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?

Nine. I love Ten, but Nine was just so utterly perfect--his arc, and his actor, and just everything. After Nine would be Ten, then Four.

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?

One. Not because I don't like him--I find Six more annoying, for instance--but to be honest, One serials tend to bore me in ways that no other Doctor has. But I assume that's just because the show was just beginning and hadn't quite found its stride yet.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?

Rose. Then Donna, Jamie, Tegan, and K-9. (I ♥ K-9, yet his awesomeness seems to be constantly overlooked. It makes me sad. Four and Romana would never have been able to put together the Key to Time without him and then there would no longer be a universe. K-9 is win!)

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?

Peri. Her shifting accent was annoying and I just have no idea why she kept traveling with the Doctor when she seemed to spend half her time complaining.

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?

Nope. Not really an audio kind of person.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?

N/A

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?

N/A

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?

I'm about seven minutes into the audio of The Stone Rose, but even given the book and even though it's read by David Tennant in his native accent (yum!), I just find it difficult to pay attention to audios.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?

No, actually. I have The Stone Rose, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?

Ahahahaha no.

11b. Which is your favourite?

Haven't read them, so can't say.

12. Have you read any of the comics?

Nope.

13a. Which is your favourite?

N/A

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?

Anything with the Doctor and Rose, though I do find myself with less interest in secondary canon. For episodes, I do want to watch more Classic Who.

Fandom

1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?

Yes.

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!

I don't have any WsIP I'm actually working on right now. Or at least, nothing outside my head. *sigh* Need to get started on stuff.

2. Do you make Dr/Rose icons?

Gah, no. I suck with icons.

2a. Let's see a sample!

You really don't want to see a sample.

3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!

[livejournal.com profile] earlgreytea68's Chaosverse. Best babyfic universe ever. I love the kids. :D

4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?

No, alas.

5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?

Rose and I sort of have similar taste in clothes, but that's about it. :p

6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?

Beyond the DVDs and one book, no.

7. Are you a fan of RTD?

I ♥ RTD. :D

7a. Steven Moffat?

HATE.

7b. Paul Cornell?

I like him, and I certainly would have preferred that he take over as showrunner rather than Moffat. He's very good, even if his episodes aren't among my favorites.

8. What say you to Season 6b?

?

9. The UNIT dating controversy?

??

10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect?

Hah, this one I know. I think it makes sense, though I'm glad Time Lords are apparent exceptions because I love multi-Doctor stories.

11. Multi-Doctor episodes?

Hah, I just said I love them. :p I've heard the Classic Who multi-Doctor serials described as self-congratulatory twaddle (or something along those lines), but I love them. Except for "Time Crash". :p

12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?

Reverse the polarity.

13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?

I started watching Blackpool because of DT, but sadly I didn't like the character he played, so I stopped. I started watching Life on Mars partly because of John Simm and partly because I've heard good things about it. Otherwise, no.

14. Have you met any of the actors?

Sadly, no.

14a. Traveled to any filming locations?

I've been to London, but not because it was a filming location. :p

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?

Haven't seen it. Not sure I want to. Gah, Moffat.

16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?

I hate Moffat, but that's not unpopular in the circles I tend to hang out in. Um, I don't find the Master very interesting. Same with Martha. And Jack. That's probably pretty unpopular--I don't care a lot about Jack. He's fun to write just for the innuendo and the teasing, but I'm not in love with him. Also, no interest in Doctor/Rose/Jack. I don't think the relationship is equal enough, since the Doctor and Rose are just too focused on each other.

17. What's your favourite pairing?

Doctor/Rose. I'm so subtle about my love for them, aren't I? :D

18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?

Doctor/River Song, unless it was written as messed-up as it seemed to me in the episodes. Though honestly, I don't really want to read any Doctor/not!Rose or Rose/not!Doctor stories set after they met. (I have Classic Who Doctor ships, but once he meets Rose, I just can't see him with anyone else.)

You know I agree with every single word of this, LOL!

And, oh, Moffat wrote " The Curse of Fatal Death?" Hmm, now any interest I had in this has completely gone bye-bye.

Nine. I love Ten, but Nine was just so utterly perfect--his arc, and his actor, and just everything.

Honestly, it hurts my heart a little at the lack of Nine love in this fandom.

I am bookmarking your essay on PotW, but not reading it yet because that is the next episode I'm doing my rewatch-review of (I've been holding off because it's the last Eccleston episode -- it's been about over a month since I did "Bad Wolf.") so I wanna hold off deep impressions from others until I do the rewatch-review.

Yes, Moffat wrote Curse of Fatal Death. This is probably the only reason I haven't watched it. I've heard it's good, of course, but people tend to just mindlessly praise Moffat, and even if it is supposed to be a parody, I just don't think I'd appreciate it.

Honestly, it hurts my heart a little at the lack of Nine love in this fandom.

Nine is just SO UTTERLY AWESOME. His AWESOMENESS cannot be bounded by normal typing and requires capslock. I ♥ Nine. :D

My PotW essay includes a love letter to Nine, as well as a more in-depth explanation of my feelings on Doctor/Rose/Jack, as well as many other things. :p I look forward to reading your rewatch-review, as well as hearing your thoughts on my essay. :)

TOTALLY WITH YOU ON THE JACK AND DOCTOR/ROSE/JACK THING

*thumbs up*

I had no idea so many people on my flist were so indifferent xD

I just don't really get how people can watch S2 and beyond and think Jack would fit in with Doctor/Rose as anything more than a friend. The three of them were very cute in Boom Town, but an important aspect of a relationship is how people react to others' absences as well as presences. When the Doctor lost Rose, he mourned and moped and attempted suicide a couple times. When Rose lost the Doctor, she screamed and cried and worked tirelessly to find him again. When the Doctor and Rose lost Jack, they...bounded off to have new adventures and be ridiculously happy together.

I mean, completely aside from me being clingy about my OTPs and not generally liking intruders, how is this fair to Jack? I just really think it's best for both Doctor/Rose and Jack that they don't try to be anything more than friends.

You know admittedly I haven't seen Fatal Death since I stopped being a Moffat fan, so my opinion might change if I were to see it again, but I don't think it was terribly bad. It was very Moffat - the companion wasn't anything other than a love interest and there were a couple of time loopy bits - but because it was a parody none of that really mattered.

That said, I liked all of Moffat's stuff back when I was a fangirl and my most recent watching of Time Crash caused me to do a six paragraph rant on why it sucks, so it might be that it's only good if you don't think too hard... XD

Even if it's supposed to be a parody, that description sounds too close to what his episodes basically are that I have no interest in seeing what difference the label of parody makes. (If any.)

*sigh* Sometimes I wish I wasn't so critical of Moffat--I used to love TEC/TDD, but now Rose's characterization makes me grit my teeth, and Blink I appreciated before I started quibbling so much about all the random things that make no sense. I'd like to be able to watch those episodes without resenting them again, but my principles are more important than my mindless enjoyment. Stupid Moffat. XD
