OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

I'm sorry, I'm finding it difficult to have any coherency. :D

Catherine Tate is amazing. The end where she realized how she had to die...Oh, Donna. Also, Wilf saying she couldn't shout at the world to make it better and her saying she could try? Oh, Donna. And her insistence that she wasn't special at all.

Labor camps. "That's what they called them last time." OMG That was totally heartbreaking. Just...oh, wow. It was understated, but so powerful.

Everything that happened without the Doctor...wow. Martha! SARAH JANE OMG. Sarah Jane's death and the little montage on the news just about killed me, it was so unexpected and heartrending. And the kids! Then Torchwood sacrificing themselves to get rid of the Sontarans...ohhh.

But really, how important Donna was to TRB is heartbreaking. The UNIT guy (was that Ross?) saying the Doctor must not have had enough time to get away--except we know from TRB that he did. But without Donna there to make him, he just didn't want to. Oh, Doctor. We've seen him suicidal before, in Rose and in Evolution of the Daleks, but circumstances saved his life in those. It's...sort of disquieting to have another look at how destroyed he was at being separated from Rose, that he'd actually go through with it.

After that, if we don't get a happy ending with Rose and the Doctor together, I am going to be so mad, and wonder what the hell RTD was up to.

Now, ROSE. ROSE ROSE ROSE ROSE ROSE. I literally squeed when I saw Billie's name in the opening credits. :D

And oh, Rose, when she found out the Doctor was dead...wah. But then her talking about the Doctor's hair? HEE. And I loved the way she watched Donna's reaction to the TARDIS--and, how the TARDIS woke up a bit to her touch. Awww. Also, her getting so much respect from UNIT was awesome, and the way she knew so much. She was just...SO Doctor-y.

She was the most blatant Doctor-figure in this episode, but Sarah Jane and Jack were also pretty Doctor-y, what with saving the world from the MRI and the Sontarans in the Doctor's place. We don't manage as well without the Doctor as we might, but we can still manage. Other people will step up and fill the gap when they can.

But back to Rose! When Donna asked her if she and the Doctor were...she didn't answer. It reminds me of S1, when they were constantly getting asked that question and were always quickly and easily denying it. Now I bet Rose doesn't know quite what they are, but that denying it would be a lie.

I love the way Donna hugged him at the end--she didn't even quite know why, but she knew she was so glad to see him. And so was I! I always miss him in the Doctor-lite episodes, but this one was more wrenching than the others.

And then BAD WOLF. The Doctor had an idea of who Donna was talking about, which solidifed a bit when told she was blonde, but then BAD WOLF. OMG BAD WOLF IS BACK YAY. I wonder if it'll end up a good thing again? I mean, it seemed pretty ominous and creepy even up to the point in Parting of the Ways when Rose had the revelation about it, and now it's ominous and creepy again, with the Doctor adding to the foreboding. And I don't think it'll save the universe this time, since it's Donna's time to shine, but Bad Wolf might still be a good thing.

Next week looks AMAZING. Seriously, amazing. I am so looking forward to the Companionpalooza, and I still REALLY, REALLY want the moment the Doctor sees Rose again.

This is really difficult to respond to, cos I'm basically just nodding and saying I AGREE (especially since we've been in AIM for ages now), but I just had to drop by to... nod and say that I agree!

I loved this episode because usually in Doctor-lite episodes, you almost don't feel his presence in it, but in this one? HOLY MOLY. He was there, Donna was there, Rose was there - this whole episode was like one huge fantastic mindtrip and then some.

The look on his face after Donna says, "Bad Wolf?" One of my favorite Ten moments, EVER!

The Doctor was just so present in his absence, you know?

And yeah, David Tennant was wonderful in that scene. That look of dawning realization, and the increasingly frantic questioning--totally awesome. :D

And see, months of reading people saying, "Bad Wolf was just season 1. It's over. Never mind the mention in Tooth and Claw. Never mind the posters after she is gone." had me convinced we would never hear another thing about Bad Wolf. And really, if they don't do anything else with it but use it as a warning, I will be okay with it. I was just so happy to see the reference again. (While simultaneously freaking the hell out.) One of my friends is really bugged by the use of it as something to freak out the Doctor. She thinks just saying "Rose Tyler" would have been enough, because he would know right then the walls between the universes are crumbling. I explained it this way: Rose Tyler=OMG! Bad Wolf=OMFG!!!?!

Makes me glad I recently read the essay on PotW. So, just dropping you a line to say how much I have been enjoying your posts. (Here via the SPDN, by the way.) Thanks for making them available to all.

I love Bad Wolf so much. I mean, since you've read the essay, you probably got some idea how much, but just...wow. And how impressed am I that it's returning three seasons later, after hints in the previous two seasons? That's just totally awesome.

I'm glad you've been enjoying them! I know a lot of D/R shippers have locked their journals, but that's something I never intend to do. I like getting people I don't know randomly dropping in! :)

I am thrilled beyond belief. I am on pins and needles, waiting to see how it all plays out over the next couple of weeks. (Because I agree that the Doctor and Rose deserve a bit of happiness after all this, but also don't see the production team actually letting them have it. I am so ready for it to be Saturday.)

Apparently there was all sorts of shenanigans in the great companion war days of s3. I wasn't actually active with DW fandom at that point, so I missed it. Thank goodness. (But there is a lot of that in the Buffy fandom as well, so I do understand why people would rather not be bothered.)

Well, I am very much hoping the production team does let them have it, after playing up how badly off the Doctor was without Rose. (I don't think I'll ever get over him passively committing suicide.) Honestly, if the Doctor doesn't get that happiness, I wouldn't be surprised if he went insane. :p

Yeah, I also missed that, since I only came into the DW fandom after VotD. But I came to fandom with Harry Potter, which had some vicious ship wars, and I've been in several other fandoms since. I have actually had my journal trolled before, which was not fun. So I understand why people would lock, while still not wanting to do it myself. :)

Oh yeah. I am really hoping that they let them have the happy ending. (And your essays on that make so much sense to me, I don't see how the production team wouldn't see it that way. I just fear them thinking, "Oh, now. The Doctor can never do *that*." What can I say? I'm a chicken.

And I have heard about the delights of the Potter fandom. You are a brave fan. (From what I have heard, I would have lost my mind in that fandom. Way too wanky for me.)

The more I think about Saturday's episode, the more impressed I am. He managed to draw so many threads together and still leave me dying to know exactly how it all comes together. And he writes characters I really, really love.

I've been flailing for 4 days now over Turn Left, so all I can manage to say coherently about this is: YES.
Which isn't even that coherent, considering it's just one word and in all caps, but, whatever.

Also! I just read your Rose's Choice meta, which I LOVED, like, you don't even know, and am quite curious to hear if you feel your thoughts were validated at all with this episode.

Since mine totally were, and if RTD makes Rose choose Pete's world over the Doctor after Journey's End HEADS WILL ROLL.

I'm glad you liked it! :) Thoughts after this episode...I'm actually still at the "reserving judgment" phase. This episode seemed to me like The Satan Pit, on a larger scale--Doctor out of the picture, Rose takes over, etc. In both episodes we get indications as to her feelings: her worry for him in TSP, wanting to stay behind, and her determination to act as he would want; now in TL we have her heartbroken look when told the Doctor died, plus "I've come so far", and all those other little moments. We've been told before by the production team that she still loves him, but I do think we were shown that as well, which is great.

I think it might be more accurate to say that my thoughts weren't invalidated by this episode. :p Though one thing that I am even more sure of is that, if RTD makes Rose choose Pete's World, there is not enough time to demonstrate the change in her character and why and how it happened, which is a disservice to the story and the character, and which will PISS ME OFF.

Actually, I think something RTD said in TL's Confidential is what reassures me the most. He said basically that Rose would have spent her entire life in Pete's World searching for a way to get back to the Doctor, even without the current crisis. If that's true enough at this late stage that he's talking about it now, then I can be reasonably confident that he knows how little sense it would make to have Rose choose to leave the Doctor when he said she would have spent her life trying to get back to him.
