So I came home from work tonight all ready and eager to work on Burnt by the Sun, which I've sorta been ignoring for a bit. Then I get to my room and see my dad and both sisters on my computer, putting together a movie. *sigh* I gave them permission to use my computer before I went to work, since they needed to make a DVD (of little sister's volleyball games, for college apps) and my computer is the only one with a DVD burner, but I do rather wish they'd done it in the four hours I was at work. As it was, I read a book for the three or so hours it took them to finish, but by the time I got my computer back, I'd lost the mood, so now I'm just sorta staring at the document.

I wish I could do hand-written fic. Ideas and outlines I can do, and even bits of poemfic, but not prose. I type much faster than I write, fast enough that my hands on a keyboard can keep up with my brain, but if I have to write it by hand, I have to slow my brain down, or I trip. And it's harder to fiddle with word choice. Most of the time, if I try to hand-write fic, it ends up sounding like crap when I read it back to myself. Rargh. Very annoying, especially when family has grabbed my laptop.

I also wanted to write more of my Luke/Mara drabbles, since it's been a few months. I recently realized that they've been nominated again for an award over at the Jedi Council forums, so I want to update as a thank-you to the readers, except that it's another document I've been staring at. *sigh* Maybe I should finally start doing moments from Dark Nest or Betrayal, since I don't think I've done any post-NJO drabbles yet. Hmmm. Anyway, I'll see if I can do that tonight.

Also, on Friday I saw Superman Returns.

Would it surprise anyone if I said I knew very little about Superman, prior to watching the movie? I knew that his normal persona was Clark Kent, who worked for a newspaper, that he liked Lois Lane, that his enemy was Lex Luthor, that kryptonite had something to do with him, and that he could fly and was really strong. And over the past couple days I've been reading reviews from people who know so much more about Superman than I do, and I just feel sorta ahahahaha I live in a cave. My best friend is a comic book geek, so she's explained Spiderman, X-men, Batman, and now Superman to me, and a bit about Star Trek, and something of Star Wars before I finally saw that last year. It's just, wow, I know practically nothing about pop culture or whatever this stuff is. XD Anyway, the movie.

I liked it. My fandom-trained brain was a bit edgy around Superman--'cause, wow, what can't he do?--but Superman has been around for decades, so eh. Anyway. I thought Clark Kent, especially young!Clark playing around with his powers, was adorable. Lex Luthor was funny and evil. Jason was even cuter than Clark. (Though ahaha I'd just assumed he was Richard's, until my best friend, who I saw it with, let slip a few comments. And the scene where Lex was showing Lois and Jason the kryptonite. That, and the piano, made it patently obvious.)

Umm. *shrugs* I don't have many thoughts, really, though I do think I should see the first two movies, if only to have the appropriate background knowledge. I did like it, and I'd probably read any fanfic for it that I saw on my flist, but I probably wouldn't write any myself.

I loved the young!Clark scene as well - accidently learning how to fly. Great stuff.

I really recommend the first two movies, especially Superman I. It's a wonderful film. And Returns will make a lot more sense after you watch II.
