possible challenge

For some reason, I can't get this challenge idea out of my head. It's been simmering there for months, and won't go away, so I'm going to share in the hopes that it will stop bothering me.

Literal Lyrical Challenge:

Take an excerpt from the lyrics of a song, and write a fic based on the literal meaning of those lyrics. For example, using the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby:

Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice at a church where a wedding has been. Lives in a dream, waits at the window, wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door.

A face that she keeps in the jar by the door--does that scream "Polyjuice!" to anyone else?

Or take Three Dog Night's Joy to the World:

Jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a good friend of mine.

Is Jeremiah a bullfrog Animagus, then?

Hmmm...wonder if anyone would actually be interested...

I would totally be interested in that challenge. I'm always puzzling over song lyrics and giggling about what the words actually mean. That would be fun to write. :)

See, the problem is; when I use lyrics in fics I tend to be purposely quoting them out of context, or purposely twisting their meanings. So actually taking them literally would be rather difficult for me.

I did use the lyric should be bludgeoned in your bed in a fic once, but no-one got literally bludgeoned. But it is a rather tempting challenge...

Yes. Except that I write slow as hell, so I don't usually participate in challenges.... *shrug* It's a good idea, anyway. :)

Ahaha. Don't worry, you don't sound like a stalker. :p

Also, most of my challenges don't have deadlines. I think they are evil, evil things, and that slow writing's not necessarily bad, so there you are.

This would probably just be an informal challenge anyway. You're welcome to take the idea, if you like.
