So...when you're sorta depressed and feeling out of touch (with fandom, with anything), what fics do you read to make you feel better? Basically, what are your feel-good fics?

Anyone and everyone answer, go ahead. I want to know. :) Provide links, if you're not like me and too lazy to find them. :p

I have several, but I think the one I'm going to go read now is Stealing Harry...

Percy Weasley and the Gay Vampire Cult of Oliver Wood is hilarious, and it makes me feel better because Percy's general situation improves.

My immediate thought was definitely Stealing Harry heh. That's like, the one fic I go back to again and again. I'm not one to re-read fics, but I re-read that one. A lot. Mostly because it reminds me in a comfort-food kinda way of why I'm in this fandom, and why I ship the pairing I ship, you know?

Also, "Seven Things That Never Happened at Hogwarts on Valentine's Day, or Maybe They Did".

Who Wrote the Book by canis_m is pure S/R comfort food. Pre-Azkaban, fabulous Sirius' POV, tender, hot, wonderful. Possibly my favorite S/R fic.

I second what Froda said about Seven Things...

I also reread Fairy Boys, Only Dancing, or Coffee is no Substitute for Waking up Naked.

But when I am REALLY needing to feel good I open a notepad I made of all my favorite quotes and stuff of all the stories I read for the first few months I was shipping that I call "funny bits" and have a bit of a laugh

'Seven Things'..., yes (it amases me how she wrote something as funny as this, and also wrote my favourite punch-in-the-gut fic that's 'And Still...'), and 'Fairy Boys', the whole thing, or just 'Ivory and Gold' and the Concert chapter (can't remember the name). And Lily's and Skye's scene in the 'Whole Shebang' (spelling?), when I want femslash.

But never, EVER, do what I did the other day. I was feeling rather down, so I read the entire 'Fairy...', and the next day my mind was so high on glitter that I decided to see 'Velvet Goldmine' for the millionth time. Well, I ended up seeing it three times in a role (should I mention that I didn't slept that night?), and then put 'Satellite of Love' on replay and reached the pith of depression. Seeing 'VG' when you're depressed, you've lived the Neo-Glam to the fullest and used to know half of the people that appear in the last concert is a bad, BAD idea...
