Desperately want it to be May. Mid-May. Like around my birthday. I want my exams to be done without me having to take them. Gar.
Well, I think I've just got the most constructive criticism that I've ever had. Someone at FA reviewed "Quintessential Sisterhood" and pointed out something that I'd completely forgotten which means I need to revise the fic.
Padma and Parvati are Indian. And their religion is Hinduism. And they believe in reincarnation. THIS CHANGES A LOT.
Me = ignorant atheist.
*FACEPALM*
They also offered some Brit-picks, which reminds me that I really need a Brit-picker. Anyone on my flist or something who lives across the pond willing? *bats eyelashes*

Things I Need To Do (fandom):
1. eMentor shift (thirteen newbies, gah)
2. Fic exchange reviews
3. reply to comments for that post (total is now64 73 and it's gaining o.O)
4. Comment on fics recently posted
5. the rest of those drabbles
6. Only Time *glances nervously at reviews demanding more fic*

Date: 2004-04-29 06:45 pm (UTC)Curious... Why does it matter if they are Indian? The fact that you are from a place does not *require* that you believe in a common religion. Parvati and Padma may come from a family that once lived in India (i.e., their grandparents are from there) but that doesn't require their belief in Hinduism.
Loads of people live in, say, Israel. Jerusalem, even. Does that mean they must be Jewish?

Date: 2004-04-29 07:47 pm (UTC)This is, of course, assuming that as Indians (or being of Indian background), Parvati and Padma's families must be Hindu.
One of my closest friend's grandfather? Born in India. Jewish. Ah, well..
Nevertheless, the person had valid concrit. Using Indian background could potentially enrich the fic, if done well.

I think much of it is because they don't matter in the Wizarding world, and probably because she doesn't want to mess with the controversies, but I think it's fine if you leave it out or only briefly insert it.
But then again, I'm not the most educated person either. I'm just as ignorant of an atheist as you claim to be.
