Cornell offers a travel stipend for admitted students wanting to visit, so...I think I'm doing that. But it looks like it has to be on an admitted student day, and there's only one more of those, which is next week. I've been pretty focused on Georgetown, but that was before I got into a similarly-good school, so now I really think I need to see Cornell and Ithaca before I can make a good decision, and the travel stipend really helps.

So I guess I'm going to New York in a week. Definitely need to get moving on plane tickets and telling Cornell and so on. I am not looking forward to the flights, but I think it's important to take a look at the place, and this will be my best chance.

In other news, I just started work at Big Brothers Big Sisters. I am a volunteer and not getting paid for it, but I'm doing interesting work, not just being a receptionist and filing things. My supervisor wants me writing needs statements for grants and eventually maybe taking on more of the grant, so for the past couple days I've been reading a lot of old grants to get an idea of what I need to do. But omg, it's an actually interesting, useful job! I'm not standing on my feet serving popcorn seven hours a day! Looks like having a college degree is finally good for something.

Time for bed now though. *yawns*

My brother-in-law went to Cornell for undergrad so I visited a grand total of once (for his graduation). It's a beautiful campus, and you'll definitely get your exercise walking up and down the steep hills it's built upon. Just think: a well-educated mind and strong legs by the time you graduate!

I believe my uncle went to Georgetown for law school (90% certain)and did very well for himself post-school. He's in international tax law and works for a big multinational company in their in-house law department. He just finished a stint living/working in Paris, and is now in Shanghai.

Don't let the pleasant spring weather in Ithaca fool you. It gets cold! there in winter.

Well, I still need to decide between Cornell and Georgetown. I keep leaning towards Georgetown, but I'm still waiting for financial aid awards to come in from other schools, so we'll see how that goes.

YAY CORNELL!!!

If you have any questions, although I know more about the vet program than most of the rest of it put together, fire away.

I miss Ithaca like WOAH.

Ithaca definitely sounds like a great city! I wish I could at least see it, because that might help make my decision, but bloody travel subsidy... *sigh*
