Sorry, I'm not sure I have anything coherent to say.
FLYING BUS!
*cough* Okay, think I got that out my system. XD
No real big thinky thoughts. Malcolm was the most adorable thing ever. I love it when the Doctor speaks alien languages. Also when he shows that humans are aliens to him too--"You look Time Lord."
I liked Christina. I think I liked Jackson Lake better, but I did like Christina, even though she kissed the Doctor. XD
Oh, wait, I do have a bit of thinky thoughts. It's funny, but the Doctor has seemed more alien in this episode than he has in many others, and not just because he speaks/understands alien languages and told Christina she looked Time Lord. But he just doesn't think of relationships the same way. He kept telling Christina what a good team the two of them made, and she took it the way a human would--we're good together and this partnership could go places. And he didn't mean it like that.
Christina's sort of like Martha, except older, more experienced and more sure of herself. In the beginning when the Doctor started to compliment how well the two of them worked together, Christina denied it, but over the course of the episode she started to believe it and believe it meant he wanted to continue their partnership/relationship. Sort of like he was leading her on, except it probably never occurred to him that she would take it that way, because like this episode reminded us, as much as he's an alien to us, we're aliens to him. It just reminded me of his difficulty with Martha.
But, just as I like Martha for having the strength to walk away, I like Christina too. It wasn't as hard for her, of course, but like Martha, Christina can go off to do awesome stuff.
WITH A FLYING BUS.
(Okay, guess I'm not over that yet. FLYING BUS!)
Also, only three people died! Poor Bugmen, and poor bus driver. But still, everyone who the Doctor promised to get home, did. That has to feel good.
Despite the creepy prophecizing at the end, this was a much more light-hearted episode, even better than the Christmas episode. I think these specials are designed to get him back into the spirit of being willing to travel with people again, which hopefully means that we can look forward to more light-heartedness.
FLYING BUS!
I need a flying bus icon now.

Date: 2009-04-13 06:07 pm (UTC)Though I'm not sure I'd give the Doctor so much credit. He tends to be oblivious, but given that he learned enough from Martha to give the "we're just mates" speech to Donna, it did seem a little odd that he would come out with "we're made for each other" and not assume she would read certain things into it. So I'm not really sure *why* he started down that path unless he was just being a bit of a douche. Or got caught up in the moment or something. I wonder if he had a bit of an "Oops!" reaction when Christina kissed him.
