Had my annual appointment with my opthamologist this morning, and he says my eyes are stabilizing--there's only a tiny change in prescription from last year. Whoo! I've been wearing glasses for more than half my life, and it'd be nice to not need new ones every year. It'd also be nice for my eyes to stop getting worse.

My doctor also brought up some possibilities. Contact lenses are not a good idea for me, since glasses are a layer of protection for my right eye, but he wanted to know what I thought of lasik surgery, now that my eyes are stabilizing. Lasik makes me nervous, though--the possibility of it going wrong may be low, but it's still there, and I effectively only have one eye. I'd rather not risk it, thanks. (For people new to my LJ, or for people who don't remember since I don't talk about this very often, I had a cataract as a baby and have been half-blind from birth. My left eye being basically useless and my right eye unable to see clearly more than three inches away without my glasses means my vision is really damn crappy.)

My doctor also brought up corrective surgery for being cross-eyed (which I also am, sigh--pretty sure it's a side-effect of being half-blind), which apparently he and my parents discussed when I was just a toddler. I did not know this! But considering I have no vision in that eye, the surgery would only be cosmetic, and the effects would eventually deteriorate, so I don't think there's any point.

So, basically, sticking with the status quo. :p

So, S4 finale in three days. I wasn't into DW in the lead-ups to the previous finales, nor have I ever been deeply involved in other ongoing TV shows, but this week has been rather reminding me of the week leading up to Potterdammerung. XD

I've read some of the speculation/theories being banded around, including ones that have been branded as spoilers but that I've only previously seen as just theories. I hope they are not spoilers, but that's about as much detail as I feel like going into. I have no real speculation for the finale--there are some general things I'd like to see, but those are mostly because I think the storyline demands them, and I've talked about those often enough in the past. Anything I could talk about prior to the finale would be just me explaining why I'd be angry if certain theories happened, and I don't want to talk about that. If they actually happen, I'll probably rant about them, and if they don't, I won't have worried about it too much.

I will say one thing about what I want in the finale, but this is a casting spoiler, so right now I'm more anticipating this than hoping for this.

The lead-up to the finale last year was equally epic. Doctor Who fans are really good at being crazy. XD

And fear not, you will have Jackie! WE'D BETTER HAVE JACKIE. AND MICKEY. Actually I would really love them to turn up in Sarah Jane's cliffhanger and save her from the Daleks. :D

Jackie and Mickey are both in the finale - or else the Beeb got them together with the rest of the companions for a photo call. Check out the Dr Who web pages at BBC.com there are wallpapers you can download. I have one with 10,Rose, Donna, Martha, Jack, Sarah Jane, Jackie and Mickey. Also the actor who plays Mickey (name escapes me) said on a tv interview (he was promoting Adulthood) that he had been told that he could say that Mickey was in the last interview but then could say no more. *squeeeee*

Only one question - Where is K9???? : )

I know they're in the finale, hence why I mentioned casting spoilers. I just, you know, want them (especially Jackie) right now. *g*

And I'm pretty sure K-9 is off filming his own series. XD

OMG ME TOO. Thankfully, the BBC has updated their website, and that’s helping to tide me over. I love the picture they’ve put up of Jackie. She looks beautiful. And fierce. (And I like that she’s not listed as one of the Doctor’s Companions. I’m glad that there’s at least one major character in the series who can’t be pigeonholed that way.)

I am looking forward to Jackie so much it's vaguely ridiculous. She's just such an awesome character! I really hope they use her well.
