You know a fandom will probably be with you for a long time when you can go on a six+ month hiatus and are still able to bring up the same enthusiasm you had in the beginning.

Totally getting back into Star Wars again, and am definitely still in love with Luke. Last week I'd found that this time travel fic that had last been updated in 2003 had just been updated with a lot of new parts, and I was very happy, 'cause it's an awesome fic. And though it was Obi-Wan of the OT going back to pre-TPM/TPM and there wasn't much reference to the OT, every time he thought about Luke, I would literally squee out loud. And so for the past couple weeks, I've been rediscovering old favorites (some of which have been updated for the first time in years!) and finding good new ones.

I don't think I'll be leaving X-Files behind, though. That show hits most of my major kinks, and the fic in this fandom is some of the most intelligent fiction, fan or otherwise, I've ever read--the fandom hits most of my major kinks too. *g* Dunno if I'll ever manage to write anything for it, but I still love reading.

Though dude, I recently found an X-Files/Supernatural crossover--one that is a crossover beyond Sam and Dean arguing over who's Mulder and who's Scully--which is just all sorts of awesome. It was Mulder/Ellen, so I couldn't quite bring myself to read all of it (I'm a total shipper, as pretty much anyone who knows me could have guessed), but there totally needs to be more XF/Supernatural fic. I know Supernatural starts after X-Files ends, so Mulder and Scully probably wouldn't cross paths with Sam and Dean, but it'd be totally awesome if they on a case met John on a hunt. Or something like that. If I could ever manage a casefile, I'd write it myself.

Hmmm. Was John the one who taught Dean to perpetuate credit card fraud? Alas, that I do not have any of season one handy...

Now, what icon to use--Star Wars, X-Files, or general writing? Also, note to self: find some good Supernatural icons.

Star Wars is like that for me. No matter how much I flirt with other fandoms, I'll always come back to it. It was my first fandom, and I suspect, if by some miracle I ever stop with the fannishness, it will be my last.

Hmm - sounds like Lyore/Star Wars OTP!

I'm drifting back to reading Star Wars fic again, too (no other fandom involvement, just reading fic), mainly because almost all the Doctor Who fic at the moment is crappy repetative shmoopy stuff.

Make sure you post recs to any goo stuff you find, especially if it's got a Luke focus.

Yay, glad you're feeling good!! I very much agree about XF fanfic... I was SO spoiled with that being my first fandom. The sheer amount and quality of the fic is something very much lacking in most other fandoms.

And squeeing for Luke--can totally understand. ;)

You must give the links then! I am curious as to this 2003 time travel fic. Please share the fic joy!

(Also, if some of the fics are finished, you could sign up to rec them on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van. People are only signed up for SW through March.)
