So I started another game of KH2, and this demanded to be written. Just a ficlet, ~400 words.

Title: Stealing Roxas
Rating: G
Summary: Yes, the thief wanted to steal the real Roxas. AU, implied Roxas/Axel, if you squint.

"Wouldn't it be weird if the thief wanted to steal the real Roxas or something?"

"C'mon, get serious. Why would anyone want to steal a bonehead like Roxas?"

"Oh, thanks!"

Laughter. Roxas managed a tiny smile as the laughter seemed to chase away the anxiety left by the strange revelation that all the stolen photos were of him. But then he stiffened, and whirled around as a new voice rang out.

"Would it be so weird?" the newcomer, someone tall and thin and dressed in a long black hooded coat, asked quietly, and the laughter cut off, stopping as if it had never been.

"Who're you?" Hayner demanded, taking a step forward and clenching a fist as his eyes narrowed.

"Is Roxas not important enough for someone to want to steal him?" the man continued, seemingly ignoring Hayner. "Do you take him for granted?"

Roxas shivered, suddenly cold despite the warm summer day. Something was wrong here, something more than just the stolen photographs. And he felt like he should know what it was, but he didn't, and he shivered again.

Then the man pushed back his hood, revealing vivid red hair and bright green eyes. "Roxas," he said, "don't think of it as stealing. Think of it as...restoration."

Who are you? he wanted to ask, but the words stuck in his throat. He didn't know this man, and yet he did, and had no idea from where the recognition came. "What do you mean?" he started to say, but before he could get halfway through the words, a black-gloved hand curled around his wrist.

"He took everything from you," the man said, almost sadly. "I bet you wouldn't even be able to put up a fight in this state."

And that spurred him to struggle, to try and wrench his arm away, but the man's slender hand held more strength than Roxas would have given him credit for. Dimly, out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed Hayner, Pence, and Olette standing frozen nearby, their mouths open and eyes wide, and would have felt angry if their stillness hadn't seemed so unnatural. It looked like they weren't even breathing.

"Come on, Roxas," the man said, green eyes gazing at him with a curious softness. "I'm taking you home, and then I'll explain."

Before Roxas could protest, or try again to move away, darkness filled his vision and he knew no more.
