rynne: (buggre alle this (enigel))
Item A: Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge, [livejournal.com profile] nyourdrms, and [livejournal.com profile] xellas! I hope your days were far better than mine was.

Ah, but isn't that an auspicious opening? Moving on, then, to some less happy issues.

Item B: Weather. My fingers are currently freezing. The high today was 62F, though of course I was driving to school at 6:30 in the morning and...very cold, to say the least. Screw fall, hello, winter! It even snowed today, in the mountains and the northern part of Reno. Down here in the valley, it just rained, which I missed because I was in class. Bugger. [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose, [livejournal.com profile] casirafics, [livejournal.com profile] enderxenocide...what's the weather like right now where you are?

Item C, or, How Things Went From Bad To Worse: Computer. Namely, installing XP.

Yesterday I posted about how my version of XP is incompatible with my network adaptors, meaning I can't use my wireless internet until I reinstall the adaptors. That's fine; today, when I got home from Japanese at roughly 1:30, I started up my computer and the installation of XP again, and told it to continue installing.

So it did. It progressed through "installing Windows" to "finishing installation". And then...the screen faded to white. For no reason I could discern. I tried moving the mouse--and the screen starts spazzing out, flashing odd colors very quickly. I don't know what to do, so I shut down by pressing the button, and restart it. It goes straight back into setup, into "installing Windows", progresses normally until "finishing installation"...and then the same thing happens! So I shut down, take the installation CD out and basically think "screw it, I want to go online, I'll deal with 98 for awhile yet", but it goes straight back into setup, tells me that it's missing the disc and can't progress without it. I click cancel, but it doesn't exit setup. I click escape, but it doesn't exit setup. I do ctrl alt delete, and nothing happens. So I shrug, insert the disc again...and watch the exact same thing happen all over again. For a good five hours. Then I gave up and decided to go online on the family computer, despite the fact that the computer room is the coldest room in the whole house. *is freezing*

My dad's taking my computer in to our repair store or whatever, and see if the guys there can fix it. I hope they can do it quickly, otherwise I might be buried in my work soon...

...Also. MY NATIONAL MERIT ESSAY IS ON MY COMPUTER! *needs the bloody essay!* And I don't want to rewrite it all...

But thanks to this new development in the utter stupidity of my computer...the rest of the drabbles may be delayed. I hope not, as I want to get them done and to you all quickly, but my computer conspires against me.

But that leads into something else...

Item D: I now <3 [livejournal.com profile] nassima. She requested a drabble, and that one was one of the first I managed to write, and now she's illustrated it! Go tell her how gorgeous it is! :D This is the first time anyone's illustrated something of mine, I think...

And another this related to art...

Item E: For my birthday, one of my friends gave me a watercolor of Remus/Sirius, and it's beautiful. Once my computer works again, I'm going to scan it and show it to you all, as she said I could. [livejournal.com profile] vixenette, you know her--it's Velesia. :D She's my only friend in RL who likes R/S, and just yay. I'm trying to convince her to get a LJ, as she's one RL person I wouldn't mind friending...Anyway, it's just beautiful and I will show it to you all once I can.

Okay, I can't deal with the freezing fingers anymore. I hope I can get online again soon...
