I saw Star Wars today (without having to pay, as one of the friends I went with works at the theater and got us our tickets), and wow, it was certainly better than Episodes I and II. And it's done what I thought nearly impossible, and made me impatient to watch the original trilogy, because I want to know what happens.

(One thing that made me feel a bit put out--apparently a lot of people I know work at the theater, and one of them was there holding the door open when the movie ended. We stayed to talk with him a bit...and then he asked Danny, who got us our tickets, why he invited me rather than my twin. Never mind that Danny and I are better friends than Danny is with my twin--is it that hard to believe that someone would prefer my company to hers?)

In any case, tomorrow after school I'm going to go rent all the original trilogy and watch it, so if you don't hear from me tomorrow, know that I am rectifying my mistake in not having seen the movies before. :p

Hahaha y'all who haven't seen the original are losers. :P

*grew up watching it since her dad is a bit of a SW nut*

My parents couldn't care less about Star Wars, which is why I hadn't seen the original. Now musicals, on the other hand...;)

Since I watched it today, am I still a loser? :p

Nope! Not a loser!

I had a very balanced childhood. Heh. Mum loves musicals, dad loves sci fi.

My mom loves musicals, and my dad loves...boring history movies and sports. Which I am less than interested in. :p My mom's influence tends to win out.

I'm looking forward to your reaction about seeing these now that you've seen I-III first.... I grew up with these movies, so it's a little hard to imagine from that perspective. I'll bet you'll enjoy them, though. :)

I'm watching Return of the Jedi right now, actually -- it's been a while -- and it's really interesting to come back to now. I keep thinking things like, "Oh! Chewbacca! Last I saw you, you were carting Yoda around Kashyyyk, and this girl you're standing next to wasn't even born yet..." :)

Well, every time I saw Darth Vader, I was mentally going, "Ani. Aaaaaannnniiii." (Or however his nickname should be spelled.) And in Episode IV, I wanted Obi-Wan to be young and pretty again. And I was surprised at how little screen-time Yoda really had, as I'd always gotten the impression he had an enormous presence (not just influence), and was hoping that maybe he'd give us a cool lightsaber scene like in II. Was disappointed when he died instead. :p

But really...totally agree with everyone who said original trilogy was better. I watched all three movies in a row because I couldn't stand to not know what happened next, and just omgsogood. :D

After watching Revenge of the Sith, I did the same as you and went back to watch the entire original trilogy in one day. (Well, for me it was "went back to" because I've watched them since I was a kid - actually, Return of the Jedi is the first movie I ever saw in a cinema!) It's great that the movie makes you want to see more of it. :D

Dude, the originals were so brilliant. I have no idea why I didn't see them before. :D
