Yeah, I'm being a meme-sheep because no matter how much I want to ignore it, I do in fact have AP tests starting next week. (But I shall, at least, ignore the FULL AP TEST practice my Stats teacher gave us that's due tomorrow, and the fact that I've got a three-minute Japanese conversation to memorize before noon tomorrow, and all other stuff...)

Comments will probably be answered this weekend.

Anyway, gacked this from [livejournal.com profile] louve_mae.

Prose or Poetry? Prose. PROSE. I never realized how tiresome poetry could get until we read TOO MUCH OF IT during English this year.

Book you’re reading now: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, because it's required. Otherwise, I just finished a book about five minutes ago, and haven't yet picked which one I'm going to read again.

Last book you’ve read: Dreams Made Flesh by Anne Bishop. It's new; I only bought it on Sunday, but I've read it maybe three or four times now. *g* That's the book I finished about five minutes ago.

Next book you’re going to buy/read: No idea. I've got to pick one soon, though; going to school without bringing a book is just an invitation to boredom.

Book you’ve read the most times: NO IDEA. I tend to reread books so often I lose track of how many times I've read them. I can't even give you a probable book I've read the most times.

Longest book you’ve read: Les Miserables, the unabridged version, back when I was thirteen. Brilliant book. I was jealous of Cosette for awhile, because she got Marius (though how he could originally think her name was Ursula...I don't remember).

Book you’ve read in the shortest time (relative to the number of pages): Er. I don't know? Order of the Phoenix, which is 870, took me five and a half hours, so probably that. Otherwise, probably Les Miserables, even if it did take me two days to read 1400 pages.

One book you wanted to read that disappointed you: Wuthering Heights. I loved Jane Eyre, and Austen, and figured I'd like this one too. Er, no.

Have you read books in a language different from yours? Yes. I've got Chamber of Secrets in Spanish, and while I didn't understand everything, I got the gist, and I've read it.

Writer you’ve read the most books from: I think Mercedes Lackey, though possibly Anne McCaffrey. Nah, Mercedes Lackey. And I'm not ashamed of liking her books! :p

Some books you like (not necessarily your faves):
Obvious, the Harry Potter series
The Deathgate Cycle, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. These books? ARE BRILLIANT. They've got some of the best portrayals of friendship I've ever seen, some of the coolest concepts, and an amazing plot, plus little bits of romance scattered around. BRILLIANT BOOKS. Everyone must read them. EVERYONE. (In order, they go Dragon Wing, Elven Star, Fire Sea, Serpent Mage, In the Hand of Chaos, Into the Labyrinth, and The Seventh Gate. READ THEM.)
The Abhorsen Trilogy, by Garth Nix. Cool books.

3 books you don’t like:
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. THERE WAS NOTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK THAT I LIKED. Well, the author's dead, so he can't write any more. Does that count?
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. I've blanked most of it out of my mind.
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. And no, I've not finished it yet. I barely made it through the first chapter. I don't like stream of consciousness, dammit!

3 people who should take this survey (and why):
Meh. You can do it if you like. :)

Love for the unashamed Mercedes Lackey fans! *high fives all around*

And is it wrong that I LIKED taking those AP exams? I thought they were fun. There's something about a multiple choice exam with random questions that makes me all giddy. Like, the SATs totally rocked my socks. If it wasn't for the whole having to wake up early thing, and the various panic attacks, it would have been a friggin' party.

My AP English exam was probably the most fun test I've ever taken. Got a 4 on that sucker, the highest grade in my class. Meant I was exempt from all basic English courses in college. Score!

Ok, I'll stop being a dork now. *goes back to cram session*

Hurrah! *high fives*

The test itself I don't mind. I'm a good test-taker. It's just that, because I'm a good test-taker, I finish quickly...and then sit around for a couple hours, not allowed to do anything. I hate that. I asked our administrator, and she said we're not allowed to bring pillows because we might slip cheat sheets in them.

Which AP English was it, the Language or the Literature? I took Language last year (got a 5, whoo! :D), and I'm taking Literature next Thursday. :p

Tests are fun. Essays are NOT. I don't know why I ever became an English major; papers terrify me.

Dude, I'd be shocked if you were allowed to bring pillows! But, our proctor was one of the really young math teachers, so she pretty much let us wander around when we were done, have some donuts and what have you... yep.

Hmmm... I think it was... both? I'm not sure. I know there was language and literature on it. Maybe the AP exams in New York are different? *ponders* All I know is, there was only one AP English course in my school, and only one exam. *shrug*

Yay, you did it! I knew that your answers would be interesting. ^_^ Many of the authors and books listed I have never heard of, but that comes with my horrible lack of knowledge of English literature.

I like Portrait of the Artist!! It's a toughie, certainly... but I greatly enjoyed analyzing it, and then writing the best friggin paper i've ever written :D There is just SO MUCH to work with,it's fabulous.
Although if you don't like the beginning you probably won't like the rest... meh.

Anne McCaffrey is my favorite author. Ever.

Also? The Scarlet letter sucked a lot.

Ended up here via [livejournal.com profile] thunderemerald, and I just wish to say I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Joyce. ;)
