Or at least, my part of Nevada is weird. It's that we're inside the Sierra Nevadas, I think.
(I probably shouldn't be complaining about the snow, as it's hardly the first time it's snowed in April. Hopefully it won't snow in the summer this year, though considering the way the weather is, I can't make promises.)
Yep, it's Autumn here now, though on some days it feels as if it's summer again. Only certain parts of NSW (Blue Mountains), Victoria, and Tasmania get snow. The state that I live in doesn't at all. Which is unfortunate. I've only ever seen snow once in my life and that was 14 years ago...
Yeah, I am. And we've had some pretty lame winters here lately. And they've been getting lame faster and faster. There was not a flake of snow on the ground at Christmas. Just a few years ago it snowed on my parents' anniversary, and that's May 25th.
I think our weather is pretty nice myself. It definitely doesn't snow year round, at least not where I am. It usually stops around March.
Ah. I live in Central New York. That explains a lot...
But don't some deserts have snow? (I've been running on about two hours of sleep. If it's a stupid question-- I've said many today-- then please ignore it. ^^;)
Some deserts are cold (tundra), but part of the definition of a desert is that it's dry. Do you know about rain shadow? I don't know all that much about it, but it's basically that there's mountains around the desert, and any rain clouds get caught and stay in the mountains and don't make it over into the desert itself. My city happens to be on the edge of the mountains, so sometimes we get the effects of rain shadow, and sometimes we don't.
Yeah, could you keep it this time? You're always sending your snow storms over this way, and, really, we don't need them anymore. Ski resorts all closed up yesterday. Send it down to Phoenix, instead. That would really shock some folks.
