The worst thing about having your own miniature library (with no cataloguing system, mind) is that it takes forever to find a single book. I've got two copies of several books specifically because I thought I'd lost the original, and later found it behind other piles of books. Maybe if I buy a new copy of GoF, I'll find the old one, lost for over a year now. That would be nice.

On the other hand, when searching for specific books, one can find old books that one has not read in years. Especially old kids' books, that make you want to read them again and rediscover what made them magical in your eyes when you were ten years old, even if you can see that they aren't particularly well written or tell that good of a story, now that you're older.

In other news, I don't like Valentine's Day. I haven't liked it ever since the one time I've had a boyfriend for it, he gave me nothing, even though we'd been together for months. But it's still possible that I manage to have fic for you all tomorrow, or maybe for Lupercalia. I hope so. I feel terribly behind with fic, and gigantically guilty, except that I also feel just very behind in general, and would rather like it if senior year would just stop so I can catch up on everything.

I wish that could happen for me. I have a decently sized library, but it's small enough that I know every single book I own. I wish I owned enough so that I would lose track of what I have. *sighs* That'll be the day. >_<

As for V-day, I think it's overrated. I don't like receiving gifts because it makes me feel like there's a spotlight on me, makes me feel obligated to like it and to return the favor, and it makes my parents, mom especially, very curious about who's giving me stuff. Being the private child I am, I don't like to share details with parents.

This applies to any holiday. I actually do prefer that I don't get gifts; cliche as it sounds, I do believe that it's the thought that counts, and simply just wishing me a Happy _________ would make me happy.

So regardless of status, I don't like V-day. Well, I don't hate it; I'm not bitter. I just don't care about it, and I don't see why people feel the need to celebrate it. I pity those guys who feel the need to give gifts, and I dislike those girls who feel the need to receive gifts. I especially feel sorry for those guys with the latter type of girlfriend.

And I don't mean to offend if you're that way, but that's just the way I am. Gifts are nice; there are times when I'll wish someone would give me something I really want but can't get myself. But it's not a necessity for me; I'm perfectly happy without them.

Erm yeah. That was a lot of ranting/rambling. Oops. ^^;; I do, however, look forward to your fic. :D

See, I wouldn't have minded it if he also hadn't gotten me anything for Christmas, and was over a month late on my birthday. I prefer thoughts to presents as well, but in hindsight, it really doesn't seem like he gave me much thought, and that rather hurts, considering we went out for over a year. *sigh* Off to go read fanfic so I don't depress myself. :p

I've been lucky with rereads on my favorite old kids' books, but then, I had Good Stuff. We're talking L. Frank Baum, Lloyd Alexander, Susan Cooper, Robin McKinley, Jane Yolen, Tamora Pierce, Lois Lowry, Madeline L'Engle, Astrid Lindgren, Roald Dahl, etc.... so so so much good material.

And I think you can tell how I ended up addicted to fantasy books. ;)

Hee. I had almost all of that stuff too (excepting Asrid Lindgren), plus more you haven't mentioned, like Tolkien and CS Lewis and Lewis Carroll and so on. I just also had a bunch of fluff books that I rediscovered yesterday. *g*
