I don't follow RPGs. They confuse me horribly. So what is going on with [livejournal.com profile] thatwasthen and [livejournal.com profile] this_is_now that everyone's exclaiming over them?

And because I am a sheep:

My journal title is: "I'm just a soul whose intentions are good", because I think it describes me well enough. I may do some pretty stupid things sometimes, but I mostly have good intentions. And it's from a song, and I'm just another of those people who use songs for names and titles and stuff.
My journal subtitle is: "Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood", because it's the next line in the song, and because...I don't want my good intentions to be misunderstood, I guess. *snerk*
My journal name is: "real life dropout and online overachiever" because it's true. I do all this volunteer stuff online and sometimes I prefer it to RL.
My friends page is called: "They like me, Ma, they really like me!" and I'm not quite sure why, as it's me who likes them if they're on my flist, but...*shrugs* It's ironically one of the few things about my journal I haven't changed, and it seems apt enough for a friends thing, I guess.
My username is: [livejournal.com profile] rynne, because I'm Rynne practically everywhere, or some variation of it. I choose Rynne because it's a nickname of my real name, given to me by a friend years ago, even if everyone in RL calls me something else, and I always liked it. (What I don't like, and don't understand, is when people call me Rhynne. OI THERE IS NO H.)
My default userpic is: the record one, currently showing. I got it off a meme over a year ago, liked it because I like both sex and rock (well, not that I've ever had sex, but smut at least), and...I just liked it.

OKAY, time to shut up and go do something useful.

I don't follow TWT/TIN either. However, upon watching like four people on my flist go "OMG" I went to check, so... essentially, looks like there was some time thing that sent some people forward from the Marauder era to the Harry-era. Then they left.

But yeah, I guess people are bawling over the angst of having James and Lily and Harry talking on journals. And um... Sirius talking to James. Stuff like that.

From what I can tell (and I don't follow those two, so I might be completely wrong), people from TWT (MWPPL, I think) are somehow in TIN, so there are conversations between 1976ish!R/S and 1997!R/S, etc. As far as I'm concerned, those two games have just given up any claims to being the "most canon game online", which is how I've seen them described. Just, no.

Re: [livejournal.com profile] thatwasthen and [livejournal.com profile] this_is_now: in [livejournal.com profile] thatwasthen, which is a Marauders era RPG, the Marauders and Lily had a little accident with a Time-Turner, which booted them to 1997 instead of going back to the past as they had originally planned on doing (and Regulus was with them, because he'd followed Sirius).

In 1997, they meet up with the cast of [livejournal.com profile] this_is_now, including their older selves. Cue emotional drainage as Harry talks to his mother and father for the first and only time in his life :(.

It's the kind of plot that could go amazingly, terribly wrong in the hands of players with less talent. I'm not an RPG fan in general (I only follow three HP RPGs and two in GW fandom), but this plotline I loved very, very much.

I've just realized that I've never asked this; do you pronounce your name as "rin" or "rine"?
