Historical times, indeed
Nov. 1st, 2004 05:35 pmIt's the DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY, and Cheney's in Sparks.
THE DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY, and the Vice President is speaking in Nevada?
Are Nevada's five electoral votes really that important?
*sigh* Yeah, I guess they are.
GO BLUE, NEVADA, GO BLUE!
I'm going to DIE tonight, waiting. This is the first election that I care about, and oh my God I'm afraid of what Bush will do with this country if it's him. Or rather, his Administration.
AMERICA PLEASE VOTE KERRY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
Is it selfish of me to say that I want Kerry to be elected so I don't have to write Remus/Snape? :p
Though you know, I think about how most of the world prefers Kerry to Bush, and I want people who vote for Bush to think about that too. It just says something to me when most of the world hates one particular administration, and maybe I'm naive, but I think that the world's opinion should indeed matter to the American people.
Gah. I'm going to go fret myself into PIECES and ignore NaNo now.

Date: 2004-11-01 06:45 pm (UTC)Ahahaha I was going to do my NaNo with original girlslash set in the middle of Nevada (aka NOWHERE) only I decided that I didn't want to do the research that would be required to get enough material to write that much, so I'm just doing fanfic. Ridiculously complicated R/S get-together fic too. *g*

Date: 2004-11-01 07:05 pm (UTC)You know. "Well, at least Bush -- unlike Kerry -- won't be swayed from his VERY GOOD POSITIONS just because other countries say so! America stays firm! America rules the world! America -- "
... BS like that.

Date: 2004-11-01 07:13 pm (UTC)I mean, in the Gulf War, the French gave us something like 17,000 troops? And lots of machinery and all that other good (er. well, necessary) stuff?
bah.
WE NEED SOME SERIOUS CHANGE IN THIS COUNTRY. I don't know how anyone can ignore that. Worse is, I don't think a Kerry administration will be drastically different than a Bush. Just hopefully - hopefully - better.
*bites nails*
I'm waiting for the recount. Florida, Ohio, wherever. Oy.

Date: 2004-11-01 07:29 pm (UTC)Despite the fact that Texas is guaranteed to vote Bush, despite the fact that Texas is a Republican stronghold, and despite the fact that my county is VERY conservative and Republican, more people in his classes voted Kerry (me included).
Is that not comforting?
