First of all, I went to the mall today to buy my twin a birthday present, and I was in the movie store. They were apparently having a "Buy one $14.99 movie and get another half off" sale, and the movie I got for my sister was that price, and so I went to go look for another one. And one of the first I see that's that same price is...Boondock Saints.

So [livejournal.com profile] lea_ndra, [livejournal.com profile] raina_at, I can finally understand what you're talking about with Connor and Murphy and all that! :D Or at least, I will be able to once I watch it. But it's mine now, yes it is. Too bad Velvet Goldmine wasn't there...

That H/D fic I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] idroppedarice is now up at FA. If you like H/D and haven't seen it on my journal, go ahead and read it there. I like it myself, despite not being a fan of H/D...*g*

But now for the best news. I mean good news like whoa. Something that I've just got that I've wanted for years.

I actually found out about it last Thursday, but I was told to wait to announce it until now, when the names are being officially released, and I figured I might as well. But anyway. I got the letter and the packet and the recognition and so I am happy. Because guess what...

NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SEMIFINALIST, BABY!

:D:D:D

This has made me incredibly happy. Watch me go float away in exultation.

OOH! Congratulations!!! Good for you! *busts a move*

And Connor and Murphy are sex on toast. *gnnnh* You'll see. Makes you look at rope in an entirely new light...

And Ron Jeremy is in it!!! LOL! And, OMG! Willem Dafoe is AMAZING! Like, it's a stellar performance! It's just really really clever of him! I hope you enjoy it! It's one of my fave movies!

*loves excuse to use Connor & Murphy icon*

Thanks! ^__^

I'll probably get around to watching Boondock Saints this weekend. Though it might be sooner, looking at the description on the back...so interesting!

My principal, as well as my letter, told me that I could make it public on the 15th, so that's what I did. But I think they're going to end up announcing it tomorrow...

Congrats to you as well!

Ahahaha, so do I. XD I'm not sure what I'm writing about, though...*doesn't remember if there's an assigned topic* I think I'll do that this weekend.

Congrats to you too! *glomps back*

*laughs* There is an assigned topic. I'm guessing the one you got would be the same as mine seeing as this is a national thing, so if you need the topic, I'll be more than happy to give it to you.

Thanks! :D I'm sure you'll make finalist with your awesome writing skills. ^_^ Good luck!

Nah, I have the topic and the packet and all that, I was just too lazy to go searching through all of it. :p

:D I hope I make finalist, at least. Not sure if my actual grades are high enough, though, as, looking at the transcript thingy they gave me today, I have far more Bs that I've forgotten than I would like. >.< And one C (but bobdammit, I hated Biology!)

Good luck to you too!

I agree, it is a highly underrated movie. Well, maybe not underrated, because I have yet to meet one person who really, really didn't like it, but underappreciated. You need to watch it as soon as humanly possible.

And YAY! for the scholarship! Go you!

And hey! David Bowie! I promise I'll mail that tomorrow, I really will, I just forgot to do it while I was in Europe, and it took so little room in the suitcase, I figured I'd do it from here. But it's in the same pile as the last CD I have to mail to [livejournal.com profile] sincelastjuly.

Ehehe, that's all right. Whenever it gets here is fine. :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing Boondock Saints, especially as my friends [livejournal.com profile] lea_ndra and [livejournal.com profile] raina_at rave about it...

Thanks!

OMG ROCK

You're just full of good news recently, aren't you? I was something like one percentage point away from it, but dude! >:D

:D

I love my good news. It's like the September of Good News (save the mother thing, but I think she's completely forgotten about that, as we were sorta discussing it at dinner and she acted like it was a given that I'm going to Washington for college. o.O Crazy mother!).

Thank you! My sister was also only a few percentage points away, though I'm not sure if I'm glad or sad...there's not much really that I do better than she does...

Oooh wow, congratulations! :) That's wonderful news.

And about the other thing: I recently discovered the wonder of Boondocks Saints. Brilliant. Heh, I should listen to my friends list more when they recommend movies (because no less than 5 people have seen it and have varying opinions on it, but all good.) Sadly (or not) Connor and Murphy have me inhabiting a bad place since I've seen it. ;) And Willem Dafoe's character was also brilliant.

So to sum up (and stop gushing): enjoy.

*g* The National Merit Scholarship is a really prestigious award--you have to take the PSAT (practice SAT) in your junior year of high school in order to be eligible (and in my school, pretty much every single junior takes it), but only 16,000 people in the nation get chosen semifinalists, which is basically .5 percent or everyone who took it. Making me in the top .5 percent in the whole US (or at least, out of everyone who took it), hence why I'm so happy about it. :D
