More [livejournal.com profile] queerditch_pub today. I did three out of the five rounds, and there was SO MUCH REMUS. In the last round there were two Remus/Sirius prompts o_O. So is it surprising that all the drabbles I did were R/S? :p Theme was close quarters, and again, collective G/PG. I seem to have a problem with high-rated drabbles...

“You sure about this?” Remus eyed the broomstick dubiously.

“Of course!” Sirius replied. “When am I unsure about anything?” He grinned.

“Somehow, that’s not reassuring,” Remus said dryly. “And somehow, I can’t imagine that a broomstick can carry two people our size without us pitching over.”

Sirius pouted. “Have a little faith, Moony,” he said. “Brooms are made to hold up, even for people our size. Come on, get on and I’ll show you.”

“I still think this is a bad idea…” Remus said dubiously, but he got on the broom behind Sirius and wrapped his arms around the other boy’s waist.

“You ready?” Sirius grinned back at him, and Remus nodded, hoping that he wasn’t going to regret agreeing to this. Remus loved flying himself, but he never had with another person, and Sirius had his own unique…style.

Without warning, Sirius took off, and Remus bit back a yelp of surprise. They rose up in the night air of Hogwarts, a breeze gently rustling the grass of the pitch beneath their feet, and when they started an upward climb, Remus clutched tighter to Sirius’s waist. Somehow this was so much harder when he wasn’t the one in charge…

But then they leveled out, and Remus took an involuntary glance upward, where the barest shivers of a waning crescent moon was peeking out from behind clouds. He turned his face away, back towards the warmth of Sirius in front of him, and Sirius leaned back his head to nuzzle Remus’s cheek slightly.

“See?” Sirius asked breathlessly as they flew over the Forbidden Forest. “Isn’t it brilliant, flying at night with the cool wind in your hair and the stars above you?”

Remus looked up, and without effort found the Dog Star twinkling madly above in the early spring sky. He looked back down and buried a grin in Sirius’s back.

“You were right, then,” he said, voice muffled. “It really is…quite nice.”

Sirius grinned and flew on.

“Do you realize how ironic this is?” Remus asked, his voice low.

“Hmmm?” Sirius replied in the same low voice, trying to look out the keyhole.

Remus gave him an arch look. Well, at least that’s what Sirius thought he did—it was hard to tell in the dark.

“We’re in a closet,” Remus said.

The irony was lost on Sirius.

“What?” he said intelligently. Damn, why was seeing out a keyhole so damn hard? And was that Mrs Norris’s tale out there, or some sort of fuzzy mop?

“It’s a Muggle thing,” Remus explained. “Telling people that one is gay is ‘coming out of the closet’.”

Sirius blinked. “That’s a stupid term for it,” he said. “Closet’s an American term anyway.”

Remus shrugged. Or at least that’s what Sirius assumed he did, as he could feel Remus’s shoulders move, but they were cramped rather tight…

“And we’re in the closet,” Remus continued. He leaned forward, and Sirius gave up on the keyhole. More important things to think about. Remus’s tongue on his neck. Mmm.

“We’ll be out eventually,” Sirius said. “Once we know that no one’s out there to punish us.”

Remus laughed slightly. “So literal-minded,” he breathed, his hands coming up to rest on Sirius’s hips.

Sirius stopped caring about who was outside, and leaned back into Remus. The closet wasn’t so bad…

“Sirius.” Remus paused. “Why are you under the bed?”

Sirius grinned, flashing white teeth at Remus in the dark. “Because no one will look for me here,” he said matter-of-factly. “You’re the only one.”

“That’s not a reason!” Remus objected. “I mean, why do you want no one to look for you?”

“Not no one,” Sirius corrected. “No one but you.”

Remus blinked. “There’s a distinction?”

“Of course,” Sirius said. “You’re the one who noticed. You know why?”

“Why?” Remus asked warily.

“Because you looked. And I know you looked.” Sirius grinned, looking quite pleased with himself.

Remus blinked again. “Erm?” he said, because he didn’t know what else to say.

“Aw, get under here,” Sirius said, reached out a hand and grabbing Remus’s wrist. Remus found himself on his stomach and being pulled under the bed with Sirius.

“No dust?” Remus asked, once he and Sirius were side by side. He couldn’t see any dust, but there was always dust under beds. It was like a fact of life, or something.

“The house elves started cleaning under here, once they noticed that I come here,” Sirius explained. “They don’t like it when people go to dirty places.”

“Oh,” Remus said. Then, “Er, Sirius? Why are we under here, again?”

“Because no one will find us,” Sirius said again, and touched Remus on the wrist.

Remus looked down at his wrist, and Sirius’s fingers lightly resting on it. “Oh,” he said, feeling slightly idiotic for repeating himself so much. “Why don’t we want anyone to find us?”

Sirius shifted so that he was on his side, and his hand on Remus’s wrist brought Remus around to face him. “This is why,” he said softly, and leaned forward.

The almost-hesitant touch of his lips against Remus’s somehow wasn’t unexpected. Perhaps Remus had known this would happen ever since he went looking for Sirius, and maybe that’s what Sirius had meant. Remus looked for Sirius, and so he…

Sirius’s lips were so soft, slightly chapped from chewing on them a bit, but Remus never minded. How could he mind, when Sirius’s tongue was parting his own lips and the kiss wasn’t hesitant anymore, it was full of heat and longing, so palpable even now.

They kissed, and somehow it was so much better than it ever had been with a girl—but Sirius knew Remus so much better than any girl ever had. And when Sirius drew back, Remus smiled. “That’s a good reason,” he said quietly, and Sirius laughed and kissed him again.
