I have just over a week left in my program. Where has the time gone? This weekend I'm going to Norway, and then next weekend I'm going to Cardiff, and then moving straight on to continental Europe.

So, this is basically my Begging Post. In the next month, I am going to be in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, Nice, and Paris. I have accomodation in Hamburg (*blows kisses to [livejournal.com profile] heart_of_man*), but is there anyone in any of the other cities willing to put me up? I'm only going to be in each city for two or three nights, and I can give specific dates if needed. I try to be a considerate houseguest and am willing to sleep on the floor as long as I have a pillow and a blanket.

Any takers, European friends?

I'll have to check it with R. when he comes home, and I only have a convertible couch to offer you, but if you want to I'll be delighted to offer you a roof in Paris (15th quarter, next to Eiffel tower so you can go for a walk!). :)

Thank you so much! That will make things so much easier. :D I'll be in Paris the morning of 5 June through the morning of 8 June, if that works for you.

...

*wails* Of all the dates, I was so hoping you wouldn't say that one.

I have to go to my parents from June 4th to June 6th because my father's having an exhibition of his paintings at home and they need people to check that everything's going smoothly (read: that nobody's stealing our personal belongings). Crap crap crappity crap. Look, I'll send a mail to my mom, see if there's some swapping that can be done. Worst comes to worst, maybe I can convince R. to stand in for me or something, or I can just go there on the afternoon of the 5th so I can still welcome you and show you the flat, and I'd be back by the evening of the next day anyway. I'll figure something out: I never get to see my LJ friends, I will NOT let such an opportunity pass (and leave you stranded in Paris on top of it).

Oops, almost forgot to update! So my lovely father told me to "do my best" and that they'd always manage anyway. Things aren't settled yet but in planning for the worst-case scenario, at what time do you arrive in Paris on Saturday 5th? Would it be okay if I welcome you, show you the flat, introduce you to the bf (who isn't a serial killer or a mollester, don't worry, although he's nowhere near bilingual so conversation might be a bit awkward -- on the plus side he probably will cook you something delicious for dinner!), give you a set of keys and leave you to your own devices until the next evening?

Stupid belated question but you're not allergic to cat hair or cigarette smoke are you? (the bf will damn well only smoke at the window if you're there, but I suppose the smell lingers, I just don't notice it anymore)

Aww, thank you. You didn't have to go through so much trouble, but I really appreciate it. The train I'm looking at gets in at 7.46am, and then I'd have to find my way to your flat from the train station. I don't mind being left to my own devices since I was expecting that anyway.

I'm not allergic to anything, and I even have a smattering of French. Not very much, but I can brush up a bit before I get there. :) Thank you so much!

I...was going to offer to pick you up at the train station, but it is really early and I am weak. :p Anyway you seem more than capable of finding your way around. I'll send you detailed instructions as soon as I can -- just need one info: in which train station will you arrive?

Anyway that's great. It means, in the event where I do have to go home (and unless R. is finally back to work chances are he'll go in my place), I can still show you around and catch my noon train. Of course the food probably won't be as good if it's me cooking, but what can you do? ;)

It looks like Austerlitz.

Thanks again. You're making things so much easier!
