Sep. 16th, 2008 10:22 pmSo my evening was absolutely lovely. Even if Twin is probably going to call me lame for not actually getting drunk. XD
I went out to dinner with four other people, and one of them made me a cake. She made me a cake! I do like cake, though I can't really eat that much since it's typically too sweet for me, but I was thinking that not being with family would mean I'd get nothing more than cookies, and then I got a cake! So that was an awesome surprise. It was even my favorite kind, too. :D
We went to this pizza place in downtown Tacoma for dinner, and it was pretty good. Not the best pizza I've ever hand (some of my favorite pizza is actually from the pizza place on campus, which is lucky for me), but still quite good.
Afterwards, two of my friends couldn't stay, but the other two went with me to a bar. I got a bit of a thrill over getting carded (omg it doesn't matter if I get carded because I AM LEGAL. Also, the bartender wished me happy birthday. *g*), and over being able to drink in public. I got two mixed drinks--a cosmopolitan (which I liked) and a house specialty (which I also liked, but not as much as the cosmopolitan)--a shot of tequila (which I like better than shots of vodka and whiskey), and a beer. So I have actually not had that much alcohol, and apart from being sleepy, I still feel rather sober.
But after the bar, we went to Safeway, and I also felt glee in being able to buy beer. So I'll probably have one more beer before going to bed--and, thanks to the alcohol, I'll be sleepy enough that I can go to bed at a normal time and still get up, feeling good (because five drinks is definitely not enough to affect me that much), in time to go to class. I even did all my homework yesterday, so I wouldn't have to do anything today.
So yes. I had an absolutely lovely birthday, and I am happy to finally be 21. :D

Date: 2008-09-18 07:41 pm (UTC)Over here the legal age is 18! So when I visited the US (many years ago)the legal drinking age in Iowa (I had a student exchamge to Iowa State U.) was just about to rise to 21, so I was still legal. But I visited a friend in Missouri and had some wine with dinner while eating out - but I was under age. It was very confusing! : )
