Jun. 26th, 2008 09:39 pmNetflix keeps getting more serials, so now I am watching Doctor Who and the Silurians, though I've technically gotten to Five. I don't have that much to say except that I like Three's opening sequence better than Four's and Five's. Sorry, but having Tom Baker's and Peter Davison's disembodied heads coming at me is vaguely creepy. :p
Also, I love the Brigadier, but that's probably a given. Is there anyone out there who doesn't like the Brigadier? :p
Not even two days left until more DW. I am anticipating this episode like crazy. :D And because I've seen it a few other places... (spoilers for the identity of the enemy)
1. I want Sarah Jane's team to be demonstrably more competent than Torchwood. I also want Jack to fanboy Sarah Jane, and flirt with her, and for her to flirt back.
2. I want the Daleks to know who Rose is. I really want Davros to know who she is--I assume he'll still know the Doctor, but I want him to know what Rose did as Bad Wolf. Bonus points if Rose gets called the Abomination.
3. Donna and Jackie need to bond over how impossible the Doctor is.
4. Rose and the Doctor need to be COMPLETE DORKS together. I want them to geek out over something, and I want everyone else to be indulgent. Jack can join in the geeking out for a bit, though.
5. NO ONE IN THE COMPANIONPALOOZA DIES.
6. Rose and Jack have a good reunion. A REALLY good reunion.
7. More Bad Wolf. I don't want it to just be over now that Rose has used it to warn the Doctor. Also, Rose needs to be really really competent, but I don't really have any fear she won't be. :p
8. Sylvia needs to see how awesome Donna is. Jackie and Francine both got to see how amazing their daughters are, and Sylvia and Donna need it probably most of all.
9. Last and most important, Rose and the Doctor need an awesome reunion. Seriously awesome. Epic hugging, clinging, amazing grins, lots of holding hands. I would love a kiss, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that. And then Rose needs to STAY. If Rose goes back to Pete's World, I am going to be so pissed.
Now I really need to go find some Classic Who icons.

Date: 2008-06-27 02:14 pm (UTC)It would be difficult for her team not to be more competent than Torchwood. That outfit operates like an ill-supervised juvie work release program.
Either she outflirts him or completely blows him out of the water. Although I suspect the latter might be left in Donna's capable hands.

I think this depends on the mechanism for Davros' return - if he's been around the entire time, he probably knows (and is likely glad for it, given Dalek politics), but if he's been elsewhere like the Cult of Skaro was, he might not know.
3. Donna and Jackie need to bond over how impossible the Doctor is.
And for the Doctor to realize he's basically been travelling with a slightly younger and more open-minded Jackie. Bwah!
5. NO ONE IN THE COMPANIONPALOOZA DIES.
Yes, please.
6. Rose and Jack have a good reunion. A REALLY good reunion.
No Rose/Jack for me, thanks, but I'd like it to be better than 'Hey,' and a nod.
7. More Bad Wolf. I don't want it to just be over now that Rose has used it to warn the Doctor. Also, Rose needs to be really really competent, but I don't really have any fear she won't be. :p
I'll be interested to see if they actually get any more specific about precisely what Bad Wolf is and how it/she works.
8. Sylvia needs to see how awesome Donna is. Jackie and Francine both got to see how amazing their daughters are, and Sylvia and Donna need it probably most of all.
Wilf's been telling her for years, so I'm not sure what this two-parter could do to change her perception. I hope whatever her change of heart is doesn't come posthumously for anyone.

I've been operating under the assumption, ever since the lyrics to The Stowaway came out, that we weren't going to see anything of a serious reunion prior to the Christmas 2008 special. But maybe that's just me.

Date: 2008-06-27 07:03 pm (UTC)Well, yeah. I just think it'd be great if someone commented on how three kids are more competent than a bunch of well-trained adults. :p

Well, we're seeing Dalek Caan (Khan?) again, right? Rose told the Cult of Skaro what she did, so if Caan has had any contact with Davros, Davros might know.
No Rose/Jack for me, thanks, but I'd like it to be better than 'Hey,' and a nod.
Yeah, I don't want any Rose/Jack either, but I don't think we'd get any. I would like a hug, though.

Well, there's a difference between being told and being shown, and if Sylvia actually sees, she might well believe. But yeah, no posthumous recognition, thanks!

I'm not sure we're meant to take those so literally, but even if we are, I'd be all right with that. I just don't want Rose to go back to Pete's World and stay there.

Date: 2008-06-28 12:26 am (UTC)Um. This one. I am so very terrified for all my companion friends. VERY. I am not willing to sacrifice even one of them. I was never afraid of RTD, until I found out he was a Joss fan. Now I fear the twisted knife.
I dislike them as mothers so much. I think both of them underrate their daughters and it makes me smad. (I find it weird I have that feeling about Francine, but she seems to underrate Martha while expecting her to do all sorts of fantastic things. Like become Martha Jones, M.D.)
Heh. Number 6 makes me think of not 7 o'clock appropriate fic. And if Jack doesn't hit on Sarah Jane, the episodes will not be complete. Period.
As for number 9? \o/ So much agreement.

Date: 2008-06-28 06:33 pm (UTC)I watched The Lazarus Experiment a few days ago, and Francine definitely gave the impression of caring more that Martha was a successful doctor than if she was happy, so I get what you mean.
Jackie underrated Rose, too. A lot of what her character did in S1 seemed to be trying to stifle Rose, make Rose keep to the kind of life Jackie knew, rather than expand her horizons and become something Jackie might not recognize. But the best thing about Jackie is that she grew past that, and I want something similar for Sylvia.

XD I don't like Jack/Rose, so I never thought of that. Mostly I just want something like a big hug, some sort of acknowledgement that hey, these two are important to each other. Jack watching her grow up was such a sweet little detail, though, so I'm not that worried that RTD will stint them. But Jack definitely needs to hit on Sarah Jane. And Donna. :D
Mostly I just want the D/R reunion to be fantastic. Eeee!

Date: 2008-06-28 10:55 pm (UTC)Heh. I have read fics that were suddenly Jack/Rose with no warning. I think that is why my mind went there.
Me too.
