This was a pretty light-hearted episode (which I am glad for, after all the recent heavy-hitters), and I don't have that many thoughts.

I still haven't gotten used to the new title music. XD

The reference to The Unquiet Dead! That made me happy. But wow, this season is really going out of its way to reference the previous seasons. Like also, when Agatha said she'd work with the Doctor, but just for the sake of justice because she didn't approve of his enthusiasm, that reminded me of Queen Victoria and her reaction. And the Doctor had pretty much the same reaction to the giant wasp (er, whatever it was called XD) as he did to the werewolf.

Roger and the footman were pretty cute. I was sad when Roger died, and the footman's reaction. :(

The Doctor and the cyanide! That was a funny sequence (omg, walnuts and anchovies and...whatever else he ingested? Urgh, gross. But the charades!). And that Donna kissed him, just to shock him, and it worked...hee. That was great. But it was a nice reminder that his physiology is different, and I always like those.

I didn't like all the flashbacks, but otherwise, it was a cool set-up, and a cool reason for having the set-up (though sorta unbelievable--the firestone transmitted knowledge of the book his mother was reading as he realized who he was? Er, whatever).

Donna was cool with figuring out the wasp's weaknesses--the magnifying glass and the water--but I was sad when it drowned. Donna was also pretty funny with the jumping to conclusions. :p

I'm not sure the Unicorn was important enough to be part of the title, but I can't think of a better one, so. XD

I really liked Agatha. She was pretty awesome.

I also really liked that Lady Edison fell in love with an alien, and didn't care how different he was. Very reminiscent of someone else. :)

Overall, a good episode.

I noticed that, too. They reused a LOT of old gags. I think I'm just going to sit back and tell myself to wait and see. You know, this could totally just be them referencing themselves for the hell of it and have nothing to do with what's coming. :D

It took me forever to figure out what it even WAS. The necklace, right? Eh.

Awwww! I loved that little detail. :D

My theory is they keep referencing themselves so as to continuously remind us of Rose, but, you know. Seeing the show through Rose-tinted glasses and all that. :p

The necklace was called the firestone, I think. The Unicorn was the thief.

Yay for falling in love with aliens! Hopefully our alien gets a happier ending.

Oh, well, there you go. That's how great I am with details. Clearly, I would not make a good mystery writer. :D

The amount of past season referencing (especially to S1) is making me think that RTD is trying to make us believe that he really did plan all this from S1. ;) Part of me thinks he did and the other part is snickering. XD I don't care, I love all the references, and I'm wondering if this might set up for an eventual special where Christoper Eccleston comes back (be still my heart).

And she's blonde. And the Colonel's manipulation was a bit like Nine's manipluation with the Horsehead Nebula.

I know they filmed this one first, and I even wonder whether there was ever a plan to transmit it first as well, and then it got pulled as too experimental or something? It didn't quite fit emotionally in the narrative arc of the whole series (he seemed very chipper for someone who'd just mourned Jenny), and they do like to have a few familiar refs to orient people at the start of a new series.

After all, the title "Partners In Crime" would have suited this one equally well.

I could imagine this being episode two, rather than Fires of Pompeii. Not episode one, since that one needed to get Donna on the TARDIS in the first place, but it could have fit pretty well as Donna's first outing.

(he seemed very chipper for someone who'd just mourned Jenny)

That did strike me as well--it reminded me of Rise of the Cybermen, actually, in how that one also ignored possible emotional repercussions from the previous episode. I was wondering if they'd ignore Jenny, and it seems like they have. But at least there's still more of the season left, so I can imagine that the Doctor's just repressing (which is, after all, his standard modus operandi) and we might get more about that later.

they do like to have a few familiar refs to orient people at the start of a new series.

Well, there's been familiar refs all throughout the season so far--definitely an exponential increase from the number of references in S2 and S3. I'm not sure I can explain that away as helping orient people, since they're all over the episodes.

My heart might very well explode from fangirl glee if Christopher Eccleston comes back, and especially if we get him and David Tennant on screen together. :D

The amount of past season referencing (especially to S1) is making me think that RTD is trying to make us believe that he really did plan all this from S1. ;)

My hope is that they're doing it just so they can make sure we don't forget Rose, and to show that she's not very far from the Doctor's mind--he's constantly being reminded of her, just as we are. *g*

And the Colonel's manipulation was a bit like Nine's manipluation with the Horsehead Nebula.

Hey, it is! Cool connection. :)

I've heard rumours, but I've also heard Eccleston is a bit fickle about stuff like that, so I don't know. I'd give my right arm to see him onscreen as a Doctor again. WITH ROSE. OMG.

I'm so looking forward to the last three episodes of this season!

I'm really loving all the references to previous seasons. It's like finally they have enough of their own canon to start recycling it.
