Apr. 18th, 2007 11:41 pmApparently I am still horrible at both updating this journal and replying to comments. I will do the comments soon, promise!
Anyway. Just finished a pinch hit for
remixredux, which is about to be sent off to beta. For all that I wrote it in a few hours, I find myself liking it, very much. I'll still probably end up reading it over and over and tweaking it a dozen times between now and posting it, or even now and getting it back from beta, but still. I like it as it is.
I like my assigned fic, too. That fic makes me happy in all sorts of ways, and I want so much to be able to talk about it right now (and the pinch hit, too!), except that I have to wait until remix authors are revealed. There are a bunch of things I want to comment on, even a few similarities between the two, though they're different fandoms, but at least one of the observations I want to make alone might be enough to identify me. (Then again, my stylistic fingerprints are all over both these fics, so maybe people will identify me anyway.)
And I really want to know what my remixees think of their fics. I want to read the story that was remixed off me--I want to know what story it was!--but mostly I want to know what my remixees think. I just love these fics so much right now, and I want the original authors to love them too. :p
Remix has always been such a blast for me. Both times I wrote stories I liked whose original authors also liked, and I've loved the stories that were based off mine. But the stories I wrote now both make me happy, and for that alone I'll probably have a good experience with this year's Remix, to say nothing of all the other stories that are bound to be awesome. I'm so glad I got to do a pinch hit, even if I feel for the poor mods who have to deal with the whole pinch hitting process.
Damn, I can't wait until the archive opens! *bounces*

Date: 2007-04-19 03:32 pm (UTC)I loved the story that was mixed from mine last year... But I think I failed a little at making my Remixee happy last year, and I think it's going to be even worse this year. In both cases I was assigned writers whose work - while very good - is so far off from mine in terms of content that I can't Remix them in ways that show my appreciation of the source, if that makes sense.
I just don't want my Remixee to think I went the route I did because I didn't like her stories. :(
I do look forward to trying to guess who's Remixed what though! I hope yours are in a fandom I read in. :)
