I keep not posting for a few days because there's like, nothing to say during the summer. I mean, dude, last summer I practically disappeared off the face of LJ. I only posted twenty times throughout the entire three-month vacation period. XD

I don't think I'll be as bad this year--or at least, I'll try not to be. I just somehow don't have as much to say. I mean, I could ramble about my job, but it's not even that interesting to me (um, except for the part where I've got $225 after only a week there, just in tips), since most of what I do is drive around and listen to the radio. :p

Writing seems very slow, lately. Most of the one-shots I write, I write all at once, unless they're 5000+ word monsters. (And yes, for me, that is a monster. :p) Even then, it'll take me maybe a few days to finish it off. But my grove seems to have slowed down; I've got fics hovering at around four pages, and lately if I add another 500 words in a day, it's a good day. This slowing, combined with the new job, means I've not finished a real fic since April, and while I'm not as prolific as some people on my flist, I don't like it when fics take forever to write themselves. Especially when I remember writing three-quarters (meaning 30,000 words) of Feet on the Ground in two weeks last September.

Even ficlets aren't coming. Either they're short and pointless, just a collection of pretty words and phrases and descriptions, or they won't feel done until I flesh them out more, in which case they fall prey to the slowness of my writing groove. And you know, while I like most of my pretty words and phrases and descriptions, I want there to be a point. I know very well that even stories as short as drabbles and ficlets can have a point, or else they're not really stories, they're just a bunch of words that may describe something but have no purpose.

And I like writing ficlets. I mean, I love my epic SW AU with its elaborate plotline since it's fun setting up situations and then resolving them, but shorter things with real impact are sometimes harder. I've written well over a hundred drabbles (using the precise definition, meaning all are 100 words exactly), and sometimes it's really hard to think of something that won't take more than 100 words to get across to the readers, but when it happens, I feel accomplished.

...And the real irony is, I'm not sure if there's a point to all this rambling. XD

eta: And Bobdammit, I want good slash smut that I haven't read ten times already. At this point I don't even care about the pairing (or threesome, or moresome), as long as it makes sense and is well-written.

But that's also not the point to the rambling. :p
