This is showing up everywhere, I know. And it's the kind of thing that should. I've never had sexual violence, or any other kind, happen to me, but that doesn't matter. It happens to far too many people as it is, and the idea that the woman (some men, yes, but far more often women) who had it done to her somehow deserves it or asked for it or what-have-you is absolutely revolting, and all too common.
All of you who I have seen admit to being survivors of sexual violence, I'm immensely proud of you, and proud to call you my friends. I can't imagine that it was easy to tell anyone, much less strangers, and that you've spoken up is amazing. I didn't know how many of you there were, and now that I've seen so many people admit to it, I'm absolutely appalled.
All of you are brilliant people, no matter what's been done to you. Remember that, and remember that what's happened does not deserve pity, or shame, or silence.
