Okay! I am now recovered from my trip and from seeing my flist at skip=800. (And I only have 110 people! It would have been horrible if I'd had more...)

A few things about my trip:

1. I hate flying. A lot. I don't quite get airsick, but I get close, and gaaah I hate airplanes.

2. I seem to have a thing with dangerous water sports and falling into the water. A couple years ago I was whitewater rafting and was bounced into the river, and a couple days ago I was jetskiing, took a turn too sharply at maximum speed, and fell off. In both cases, I got back on easily enough, but still.

(I wonder what it says about me, that I found both being bounced into the river and falling into the ocean, at least a mile from shore, exhilirating? So much fun!)

3. I don't like it when people try to sell me stuff (*killz all telemarketers*), but it was sad, having a little boy tug on my shirt and try to sell me necklaces. Wah.

4. While it was very nice to practice my Spanish, it was really weird to accidentally have an "iie" pop out of my mouth rather than a "no". I bet I was confusing. I confused myself, at least--I don't think having three languages swimming in my brain simultaneously is a good thing. (Sort of on the same note, I know how to say "What's that?" in five different languages!)

5. SUN! WARM! HURRAH!

6. I brought seven books, two of which I had to read for school (The Ugly American for Gov and Great Expectations for English). I left on Monday, and by Wednesday, I had six of those seven read. And even though I have a test on it on Monday, I'm ignoring Great Expectations. Dammit, I don't like Charles Dickens!

And really quickly, that music meme, because I'm curious if people can figure out what my favorite songs are:

1. Post the names of 20 of musicians you like.
2. See who can guess which is your favorite song by each.
3. Once someone guesses right, bold that row and include the song.

Flying plays tricks on my head, the kind that are no fun. And little boy tugging, aaaww. And I'd try to guess songs, but the only ones I really know are. . .hmm. Well, there's that one where The Monkees go "hey hey we're the monkees." /:) And there's Kiss Me by Sixpence.

No to all of them, though you're at least in the right game with 07...

Flying makes my stomach weird, and I usually can't read on a plane unless I want it to go weirder. Blah. And nope to both the songs, though Kiss Me is my second favorite Sixpence song...

Non-vocal song, then? Bittersweet Romance? You're Not Alone?

You're Not Alone. :D I just adore that song...I've got a save file at Bran Bal just so I can go do that part of the game whenever I want...

:P I keep save files all over. I think I've got one before they board, um, a second ship early on in the game, with Zidane, Dagger, Steiner and Vivi. And then a Black Waltz comes, and Vivi's all sad... I really love that part, oddly.

In Dali, before the cargo ship? And Black Waltz 3. Funnily enough, my twin started playing the game before I did, and when I got to that part for the first time, she said that all those black mages falling wouldn't be as sad as it was if that music hadn't been playing...

(I love that part too. But then, there are few parts I don't love. IX is my favorite video game ever.)

Yeah, that's it. And yes, that's true too.

IX is my favourite RPG.

I decided that trying to "catch up" on my flist is a lost cause whenever one is gone for 8 days.

And #5 on your trip list? AMEN.

XDD

I hate flying, too. Gives me severe earaches as a result of childhood surgery. I've only flown once since 1975 and am about to do it again in 2 weeks. *sigh*

Sun and warmth would be nice. Has been pissing rain here all weekend. Better than the snow they got only an hour away from here, though, so I guess I'm not really complaining.

I love Dickens! ;)

Well, since you said they were really obvious... ;)
5. Under Pressure
6. Don't Speak (sorry, it's the only No Doubt song I know the title of...)
10. Bad Moon Rising (I never can guess what CCR songs other people like...they're like desserts, everybody has a different favourite)
14. Stairway to Heaven (or Black Dog? that would be appropriate...)
16. Sweet Child of Mine (or maybe Welcome to the Jungle? hehehe)

3. I don't like it when people try to sell me stuff (*killz all telemarketers*), but it was sad, having a little boy tug on my shirt and try to sell me necklaces. Wah.
Yeah, that makes me so sad, too. And I hate it because I never know what to do. Does buying something do any good? I don't know... :(

Gah, Dickens. I just...don't like his style of writing. Some of it's funny, but most of it I just have to dig through to find out what the hell he's trying to say, and thinking to myself half the time, Didn't he already say that? *sigh*

Good luck with your flying trip!

You got the Led Zeppelin song right, but the others...close, but no cigar. My favorite Queen song is funnily probably their most famous, and while I like all the other songs you mentioned (well, including Under Pressure, though I usually classify that as David Bowie with Queen), their not my favorites. The Guns n' Roses favorite is also one of their more famous...

*sigh* I was usually with my family whenever someone tried to sell me something, and they always had me move on. I suppose it was just as well, since I don't think I could buy enough to really help.

I think you must have a very different concept of "famous" than I do, if you don't count "November Rain", "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child of Mine" as Guns n Roses' three most famous songs. Hmmm..."Paradise City"? (But, then, you are very young. You probably never owned a Guns n Roses t-shirt, did you? You probably have no memories of staying up late on Friday nights to watch Headbanger's Ball on MTV, do you? Of rushing out to buy "Appetite for Destruction" as soon as your mom allowed it? Plastered your bedroom wall with...ah, we won't go there. *shakes head mournfully* Kids these days. ;) ) Oh, dear, your favourite GnR song is probably "Patience", isn't it? You? NOT a proper headbanger. :)

I haven't thought about GnR songs so much since 1992. And I shan't again until 2012. ;)

Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody? (Did somebody already guess that? I assumed somebody had already guessed that...)

Date: 2005-04-05 03:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com
Ahaha. Well, I did get Appetite for Destruction as soon as my mom allowed it (and I do have a t-shirt!), though I daresay it was a bit later than yours. :p Though when I meant famous, I was talking about Queen...and yes, it is Bohemian Rhapsody, which you are the first to mention. I know that "Welcome to the Jungle" and so on are some of GnR's most famous songs...though my favorite is Paradise City. :D

Ahaha, just realized what I wrote at the end. I meant another of GnR's more famous. :p

Hmmm. I'll just guess my favorites, since I don't know much about your musical taste!

02.) China Girl (although technically my favorite is Under Pressure.)
09.) Amish Paradise
10.) Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
12.) I Guess that's Why they Call It the Blues
