Fandom, and the people in it, infect everything I do.

So a couple months ago in English we read Hamlet, blah blah blah. I never actually finished it, as even though I like Shakespeare, Hamlet was...gah.

Anyway. Today in class we started watching Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

First thought: [livejournal.com profile] anniesj likes this movie! I'd better forget the nap and watch it.

Second thought: Where's the scene that [livejournal.com profile] lykaios's icon is from, where Gary Oldman drops things?

Third thought: ...Dude, this is really funny.

[livejournal.com profile] musesfool was right--fandom is like the mafia. Once you're in it, there's no escaping.

Two of my good friends starred in our school's production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, which was AMAZING. I was talking to one of them, and he said he didn't like the movie because it didn't fit with everything that he had experienced during the production. Let me know if it's actually any good though...

I loved Hamlet!! It's my favorite shakespeare play out of those I read o.O I saw Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead put on at my high school when I was a sophomore, but I don't remember it very well. It was also extra credit reading this year but I never got around to it. It's lying on my bedroom floor o.O But I do hope to see the movie sometime!

I had a similar fandom-type related experience in school... I was in chemistry class, they were going over the same easy thing over and over and over... my mind drifted to Queer as Folk (my current obsession)... and suddenly I was writing. The product was my first drabble! lol. Gotta love fandom :)

This scene comes in about the middle, I think. Or a little bit before.

I LOVE Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. We had study it with Hamlet, a comparison study. I saw when Gary Oldman had been announced as Sirius, and I was all "Uhh, I don't know..." because the only thing I'd seen him in was the Fifth Element, but after I saw Ros and Guil I thought "Yes! I'm sold!"
