I want people to shut up about hating stuff. Loving other stuff is much more fulfilling.

(This mostly applies to fandom. I'm not even going to try to tackle RL. There's a reason I told a friend of mine that I was an optimistic cynic/cynical optimist. eta: this was partly inspired by how many CS threads there are in VENOM. It depresses me.)

*falls asleep*

eta2: RIP, Arthur Miller. I may have thought I suffered through Death of a Salesman and The Crucible in junior year, but they grew on me. Thank you.

:p I don't. But I don't think there's many things I outright hate, and none of them are fandom things. (They may be behaviors evinced by people in fandom, but they're not part of fandom itself.) It's too much effort for me to hate something when I'm here to have fun.

:) I saw part of it, though since I know nothing about Obsidian Butterfly and Lost, I didn't really read it. But thank you for contributing to the love.

I love even the things I hate!
No, really!

OKAY, I don't know what I'm talking about. Though I definitely see your side, despite being one of the occasional haterzzz.

I just want to say WORD. I visited VENOM for the first time in months the other day, and was thoroughly depressed by the amount of CS threads. Curiousity got the better of me, and I had a look at a couple that involved ships I like, and that just made me feel worse. Why? What's the point of hating ships or characters or theories?

I suppose I can understand the need to vent, especially for ships like R/Hr, H/Hr in the old days of the DT, where relationships are strained... but there's even a CS thread for Neville/Ginny! Why? It's a harmless little side ship, why does anyone bother wasting their energy on hating it?

So yeah, definitely agreeing with you. We need more love and less hate in the fandom.

I feel the same way. I try not to waste my time actively disliking characters or ships because...well...there are so many other more productive things I could be wasting my time on, like writing gay porn!

Yeah. I can't make myself look at the VENOM threads. There's enough negativity in the world; why create more?

Btw, did you have a chance to look at my story? I've tweaked some things, and I think I have it the way I want it, but if you've got any suggestions before I post, I'd like to hear them. :)

I sent it back a couple hours ago--have you gotten it yet? Gmail's being really slow for me...

*sigh* Now that I'm actually a VENOM mod, I don't know why I volunteered for it. Sometimes I like following the discussion, but there's more CS threads than debate threads, and they're always far more active, and it's depressing.

Having to look at the CS threads for the ships I like (well, excepting the CS Remus/Sirius thread--I avoid that like the plague) is one of the worst things about being a VENOM mod. The whole time I was writing up the Masterlist, I was depressing myself at how the CS threads outnumbered everything else, and were by far the most active. *sigh*

I don't see the point in hating so much. I'm in fandom to have fun, so I spend time on things I love and ignore things I don't. *shrugs* Easy enough.

"Productive things to waste time on." *snerk* Somehow that's very amusing.

Though I must agree that, if there's something productive to waste time on, writing gay porn is it. :D
