Got my
remixredux assignment, and ohmygodthisisgoingtobesomuchfun. The person I got has this story that's gonna be such fun to remix and wheeeeee. :D Thanks,
musesfool!
I am thinking that there is something wrong with my PS2. Does playing it too often wear it out? I've had to get two copies of some games, because the PS2 takes forever to recognize the discs and sometimes doesn't at all, only now I'm thinking it's the PS2's fault, not the games. I was trying to play FFVIII again today, and I've only played through that like four times (as compared to losing count with FFVII and FFIX, the games I have multiple copies of), so the discs are in pretty good shape. Disc one wouldn't work at all, not even after I'd cleaned it. Finally I had to put disc two in, restart a couple times so the PS2 would recognize it, and then click "New Game" and wait for it to prod me to put in the right disc (which I've been having to do for FFVII--the PS2 won't recognize the either of my third discs unless the game's already going, so I've got to put in another disc and wait until the game prods me to put in the right one). I've only had the PS2 for five years--surely it's still good. I've had my N64 longer (at least eight years) and have played it just as often, and it still works just fine. Anyone possibly know what's wrong?
Randomly, I love Link. A lot. I don't care if he's never ever said anything (completely serious--Link's the main character of all the Zelda games and he has no dialogue), I adore him. And he's left-handed. It's brilliant when people I love are lefties, because I am too, and we've got to stick together against all the righties. :p Anyway, Link = The Best. :D
Also, that meme about five characters I had a crush on in my childhood/early teens, and in no particular order:
1. Aragorn (LotR). And this was before it was cool to have a crush on Aragorn. :p Though what can I say? I was nine when I first read LotR, and he was so cool and heroic and kingly...
2. Caspian (Narnia). He was such a sweetheart, and I was so jealous of the star's daughter when he fell in love with her. Ah, Narnia. How I love thee so...
3. Taran (Prydain). Are we seeing a pattern here? *g* I so wanted to be Eilonwy (well, not just because she married Taran), and Taran Wanderer is still my favorite of those books...
4. Link (Legend of Zelda). I've already said why I love him, but whee. I love him. I normally don't go for blonds, but Link is my one exception. <333 Link.
5. F'lar (Pern). I always loved the kind of cool-headed but passionate leader that everyone loves and no one thinks they can do without, and F'lar definitely fits the bill. Though really, I had equal crushes on F'nor and Robinton...:D
Tomorrow I'll probably get around to the fics that do it for me meme. *g*

Date: 2005-02-06 02:37 am (UTC)2 - The PS2 thing - do you use the er.. copied sort of game (sorry for my lack of articulation here, but I have no idea how it's called in English :P)? Cause in time that screws with the ps2's reader (at least that is what can happen with the ps one). Then you have to find somewhere to replace it - I don't think it's too expensive. That doesn't happen to N64 cause there are only original games...
3 - LINK! I love Link! Specially grown-up!Link in Ocarina of time - and even if he doesn't say anything at any point, he's my favorite RPG character of time. And even if I'm not a leftie, I love lefties, for some random reason I'm still for find- maybe because they are normally more artistic people, or something

Date: 2005-02-06 09:35 pm (UTC)2. Nope. Every single game I own was legitimately produced and bought (and I think the term you're thinking of is "burned"), and I don't think I've ever put anything in there that wasn't. *sigh* I want my PS2 to work properly again.
3. *adores Link* Grown-up Link? REALLY BLOODY HOT. <33 Link.
(Btw, I don't think lefties are more artistic. I'm certainly not. *snerk*)

Date: 2005-02-06 09:42 pm (UTC)I think I loved F'lar the most in "Dragonquest." He's such a competent leader. I love him.

Date: 2005-02-06 09:45 pm (UTC)Dragonquest is my favorite F'lar book too, and I love his parts in All the Weyrs of Pern. I love how people follow him and can't imagine him not leading them...*g*

Date: 2005-02-06 09:50 pm (UTC)It's so strange. I usually fall for the second in command, so it should have been F'nor. And I do like F'nor quite a lot. But it's all about F'lar. I think the scene that did it for me was in "Dragonquest", when he was ill and feeling old, and Lessa was taking care of him. I remember him being a little petulant in that scene and...I just loved him. And he has canonically amber eyes! Hee!

Date: 2005-02-06 08:54 am (UTC)Pern! And Middle Earth!
Okay I never liked F'lar as much as F'NOR, who makes me squirm just thinking about him. AND Robinton! Even though he was, like, an old man. Well not really. But you know. I NEED to read all those again. Or at least some of them. I have The Masterharper of Pern in a gorgeous hardback, and I've only read it once! Woe is me. I however adore all of Anne McCaffrey's work to bits. If I listed 5 childhood crushes, I could definately get all 5 from her books. I wouldn't, but I could. Most notably the Tower series, with Afra (drool).
And Lord of the Rings... I first read it when I was in 6th grade (11 years old) and I absolutely LOVED Aragorn. So I went into the movies a little biased, and then he was gorgeous anyways!
*passes out from all the squeeing*

Date: 2005-02-06 09:41 pm (UTC):p I went into the LotR movies biased, but it was against--I never was a fan of movie adaptations, unless they're really good ones like The Last Unicorn. Though at least Aragorn's movie-self reminded me of his book-self...
