Another six inches of snow, and another snow day. Dude, I only had to go to school for about five hours total this week. I know we're going to have to pay for it by going overtime in June (school after I graduate! Gaaaahhhh...), but it's so nice to sleep in when it's snowy.

Anyway, Discworld fans, I need your help. I've got a gift certificate for a local bookstore and I know I want more Pratchett, only I don't want to confuse myself by buying books out of order. I've read The Color of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Mort, Hogfather, Wyrd Sisters, The Truth, Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Jingo, The Fifth Elephant, and Night Watch. What books should I get that would be less than or equal to thirty dollars? (Note that I don't especially like Rincewind.)

I'd recommend Feet of Clay, as that's a Watch book and you don't have it listed though it appears you've read all the others, and Reaper Man, because it is far and away without question the best Death book. I do rather like the witches too, so if you like them, Witches Abroad and Lords and Ladies, in that order, might be good. Also I would like to fall down on my knees and implore you to read The Truth, as it's one of my favourites, though I've noticed that most people aren't overly fond of it (mostly because our main character is terribly arrogant, though I'm quite fond of him anyway), so this last is a personal rec more than something that is officially wonderful. (Mind you, I also have this strange memory about you having read The Truth, though it's late and my mind could quite concievably be playing tricks on me.) I don't know if all that adds up to thirty dollars or not, but those are my recs, and essentially in what I think is a good order to read them based on their quality.

Of course, you could always get Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman) and revel in the slashy goodness that is Crowley and Azriphale.

I agree ther "Witches Abroad" and "Lords and Ladies" as well as "Carpe Jugulum" and also "Maskerade" are also excellent.

Can I also recommend another author that I know you'll like - Jasper Fforde. The first book of his "Thursday Next" series is called "The Eyre Affair". There are 4 in the series total - and I promise you will love them. My own personal favorite is No. 3 - "The Well of Lost Plots".

I've already got Good Omens! I think I remember you commenting on my Remus/Sirius fic with mentions of our favorite demon and angel...

Thanks for the recs! :D People keep mentioning Jasper Fforde, so I'll probably have to check him out.

For Discworld, reading in order isn't especially important, even regarding books about the same character set. But if you still want that, I think you've missed out Equal Rites up there, it's the 3rd book or something. Personally though, I didn't find it very good. There's also Sourcery, probably the 5th, but again I didn't like it very much. I seem to not enjoy the books based on witches, except for Carpe Jugulum which had vampires.

Reaper Man (#11, I think) was the book that got me started and hooked on the series in the first place, it's really funny. Features Death and the Senior Wizard Faculty members at the UU, but no Susan.

Pyramids, Small Gods and Moving Pictures aren't based on any particular set of characters.

Soul Music (#16?): Susan. Death. Band With Rocks In.
Interesting Times (#17?): Wizards. UU Faculty, and Rincewind too. Fun.
