Today was so much better than yesterday that it's not even funny. Yesterday was awful. Gah. At least I managed to drive today without spinning out or coming to random stops...
I wonder if there's a way that you can tell fictional characters to get out of your head and have them actually obey you. Cause you know, Remus and Sirius? They seem to have taken up permanent residence in the creative part of my brain and refuse to even rent it to other fandoms. Really bloody annoying, when I've got this Good Omens fic telling me it wants to be written, and I've got this enormous long Final Fantasy VII fic that's practically demanding to be written, and yet, every time I open up Word to try and write this stuff...I end up staring at a blank document. Then it turns into random Remus/Sirius scenes, which, although I like them and they are refreshing after BDS (black document syndrome), have absolutely nothing to do with what I was trying to write in the first place. I mean, I love writing R/S as much as the next fangirl, but I've got other stories in my head besides theirs.
*sigh*
People with multiple fandoms that you write in...do you ever get this sort of problem? And if you do, what do you do about it? (Rereading/replaying Good Omens/FFVII won't do any good; I've tried that multiple times, but Remus and Sirius seem to be jealous puppies.)
*thinks longingly of siren-like FFVII bunny*

Date: 2005-01-07 10:07 am (UTC)An enormously long FFVII fic by you would be awesome. :3 I'd say you should definitely go for it, except I don't really have anything helpful to say about getting other fandoms out of your head. :P
But... still. The FFVII-ness is calling yoooooou~ <3

As for Beatrix/Steiner (the mush of their names sounds so weird...), maybe, but only as a side pairing to any Zidane/Dagger fic I write. I love Beatrix and don't like Steiner much, but their love is so canon. :p

Date: 2005-01-08 01:11 am (UTC)I like the mush. Anyway, those two pairings should go well together, with Beatrix and Steiner guarding Dagger, and perhaps with Steiner keeping an eye on Zidane...so amusing. Yes, it is canon. So cute. I love all the playable characters, mainly, except for Zidane, Dagger and Eiko, but I also like Beatrix, Tantalus, and Regent Cid. Oh, and the Qus. I like the way Steiner's armour clanks when he walks, for some reason I find it more endearing than annoying.

Date: 2005-01-08 01:26 am (UTC)Aww, you don't like Zidane? I adore Zidane. He's my very favorite video game character of all time, and I'm still off-and-on contemplating writing an

Date: 2005-01-08 01:41 am (UTC)Plot is especially good for FF7 fics, so that'll be great. =) That's true. I love that group. And Rufus.
Nah, not really, I prefer the other characters to him. He is a nice person and all, but somehow I don't seem to enjoy him as much. Write it then, why not? IX is my favourite too, but because it's the funniest. And because of the other characters, and the plot.
But Zidane forgives him anyway! You should too. =P Well, the treatment improved later on in the game, and I felt the attitude shown earlier was more because of trying to protect the princess (he's so cute when he does that), and had less to do with his low status. He doesn't treat him all that bad actually, not like he truly hates him, just disapproves. And it made for quite a few funny scenes.
Oh, I forgot, the Knights of Pluto rock too. And they still love their captain despite how he usually treats them...he is deserving of love!

Date: 2005-01-08 01:53 am (UTC)Ah, Rufus. I like him too, but I don't want to bring back the dead (except for Sephiroth, and there's a logical reason for that), and I don't see how he can have survived Diamond Weapon blowing up the tower while he was in it.
Oh, I forgive him for treating Zidane so badly--he does say one of my favorite lines to Zidane in Pandemonium ("I shall follow you to kingdom come if I must. You remember that!"), and the scene with him and Beatrix and the mixed-up love letter is so adorable. His personality just grates on my nerves sometimes.
The Knights of Pluto do rock. I love Haagen and Weimar especially. *g*

Date: 2005-01-08 02:10 am (UTC)So sad. I haven't got to that part yet.
For some reason, I actually like his personality. =)
Why them?

Date: 2005-01-08 02:18 am (UTC)Haagen is so adorably enthusiastic about his job, and he's like practically the only Knight besides Steiner who is. Weimar tries to be a ladies' man and isn't quite. *g* They're cute.

Date: 2005-01-08 02:24 am (UTC)Where am I? Start of Disc 3, I think...not too sure. That's the problem with playing too many FFs at once. Haven't touched them at all since I finished FF9 a while back, after Christmas Day...so now I've decided that as soon as I start again (which could be a while because of school reopening, and then not so much), I shall finish FF7 before continuing 6.
I can't quite tell them apart...but I really love their dedication to the captain, and their often ineffectiveness that gets Steiner so mad.
What's *g*, btw?

Date: 2005-01-08 02:34 am (UTC)Ahahaha, I hear you with the playing too many FFs at once. I'm replaying VII myself (just got Cloud back after Mideel), I'm somewhere in Memoria in my latest IX game, getting immeasurably pissed at the chocobo race in X, somewhere in Chapter 2 of X-2, barely past the first boss in V (haven't played that one in two or three years...need to start it again), and am just about to go to the final dungeon in IV. Maybe after I finish IV and V, I'll start another game of VI--it's been at least a couple years since I beat it, and I haven't played it since. It's the only FF game I've only played through once.
Ahahaha. I can tell all the Knights of Pluto apart because I've played that game enough to have quite a bit of the dialogue memorized. I lost count of how many save files I had after twenty, and that was at least three years ago. :p I said it was my favorite game...
*g* is a cute face :p. There's the asterisks for eyes and the g makes a nose and a mouth. It's also a little short way of saying *grin*, I think.

Date: 2005-01-08 02:47 am (UTC)Your count beats my previous record. But then, mine was for the first time for all, except for 8. I was playing 6-9 and X-2, but then I finish 8, X-2 and 9 in that order, leaving 6 and 7. If you're in Memoria, you might as well finish it. I think I started from before going to the Iifa Tree with the glowing thing on top to the end of it in one night. Quite short, really.
I started X, but didn't finish it. Nothing about the plot/characters connected to me at all, and so I found it quite boring and was really uninspired to finish it.
I haven't touched FFs 1-5 at all yet. Am planning to someday, but not in the near future. Never planning to do XI (it's not their regular RPG, instead it's a MMORPG, I think), and am not sure about XII, because I thought the series started to go down at X, plus PS2 games are even more expensive. And then I think after XII, they're going to develop for PS3...
Your dedication to that game is truly amazing. You mean you use one save file for every time you play it through, and just keep saving over it? Why do you bother keeping the previous rounds, or is that your way of logging it? Because 20 times to play it through would mean more than once a year for you (on average), in addition to other FFs which you also replayed.
I can barely see the face...oh well. Now that you've explained, I can sort of see it...still have to strain though. And I think other kinds of faces are cuter, asterisks aren't so good. I used to think it was a short-form for *glomps* or something, but wasn't sure.

Date: 2005-01-08 03:07 am (UTC)How far did you get in X before you stopped? I don't blame you (Yuna and Tidus get on my nerves, and they're the main characters!), though I'm enough of an obsessive to have clocked over 160 hours on that game...:p
I haven't played I, II, or III, though not because I don't want to. I know I and II have been re-released for either PS or GBA (both of which I have), and maybe it's silly, but I want to play them on the original Nintendo, even if I don't have one...:p I doubt I'll ever play XI, as I'm not interested in computer games (especially MMORPGs), and I'll probably get XII, at least, and reserve judgments until then.
No, I've got multiple save files for IX. Usually when I start a new game (if I haven't gotten a new memory card--I've got four right now), I'll save over one of the previous games that I haven't played in awhile. There's one game that I will never, ever save over, though. My best game...90 hours on it, everyone at level 99 with all the best weapons and armor and every single ability learned, Ozma, Quale, and Hades defeated, pretty much everything done except Excalibur 2...I love that game. It makes me squee.
Though of course I play through my games more than once a year! My record for IX is one week, I think (and that during the school year), as is my records for X, X-2, and Kingdom Hearts. I love my games. They're like books that I read over and over, only I play them over and over. :D:D:D

Date: 2005-01-08 03:30 am (UTC)I couldn't be bothered to make sure they didn't level up, and didn't do Enc-None so much because I got it late, and wanted to draw from the monsters anyway, but not all at one shot. So Squall ended reaching Lvl 100 long before the end, with only 2 other characters somewhere below 80/90, the rest 40/50/60. And it was all still quite easy, with Lionheart. I've played FF8 3 times, once years back, another time that I stopped somewhere in the Great Salt Lake, then when I wanted to resume I decided it was better to start all over again so...
My starting and finishing order is and will be: 8 X-2 9 7 6, not counting 10 and the earlier FFs. When I play them I try to finish most of the side-quests and all, but I don't try to do challenges like Level-One or No-Materia as you said.
Can't quite remember. Not very far... hard to measure when there's only 1 disc. I remember I did get Yuna though, not sure how much longer after that. Yeah, same for me. Yuna's a little too good, sort of like a Mary-Sue (but she becomes so much like Rikku in X-2), and I think Tidus is a dork.
Are they still selling the original Nintendo? Maybe in second-hand shops or something? Well, I suppose you can try getting a ROM, it's not like they're still selling the games for the original Nintendo anyway, are they? I don't find MMORPGs fun either, online multiplayer is better for action, FPS or text-web-based games. Well, XII isn't coming out for quite a while anyway, few months more.
I have 2 PS memory cards. I don't usually bother to get everyone to their maximum if I can pass it quite easily with what I have already. Did you do Excalibur 2 before?
I suppose the games could be finished very quickly if you don't bother with doing the side-quests and fighting the ultimate bosses, which I make it a point to do. (Except in my first 2 times playing VIII.) But if I replay any, I probably won't bother doing that again, so it'd be quicker.
It takes longer to play FFs than read books, so while I reread most of my books multiple times, such RPGs will get replayed less often.

Date: 2005-01-08 10:11 pm (UTC)Hmmm...you haven't really gotten to where X becomes interesting, then. But then...Yuna does remain rather Mary Sue-ish...
Dunno if they're still selling the original NES, but it doesn't matter--I've got friends who have it and who are willing to lend it to me. Though I think I should probably finish all the other games I have before I start a new set...
I usually try to get people to the best they can be--I've done it in VII, VIII, IX, and X so far (not even gonna try it with VI, though--fourteen characters, and Gau would be a nightmare...). It can be really time consuming and probably pointless, but I like doing it. Beating all the ultimate bosses and making the characters the best does give one quite a feeling of accomplishment...:D
I always do the sidequests; it's just that the games can be finished very quickly if you know them well enough to get things done so quickly that you have time to do the sidequests. :p

Date: 2005-01-08 10:17 pm (UTC)It's not just those 2 characters, I can't quite stand the rest as well.
Yeah, you probably should. Unless you want to beat your own record on how many FFs you're trying to play at once...
As I said, I don't bother with that...I don't have the patience nor time for it, and I don't see the use other than that feeling you get...
=P Plus, they give you cool stuff. And sometimes they're fun on its own. Some a quite a nightmare though...
