I hate dial-up
Dec. 27th, 2004 08:02 pmYay for Christmas with the family! I’ll tell you all more about it (ahahaha assuming you care :p) once my internet connection is…less uncertain.
It’s the oddest thing. I go online, and then five to ten minutes later, I get this error thing from NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, whatever that is (I couldn’t find it, searching my computer) and after a minute, it shuts my computer down. Consistently. I have not been able to go on the internet for more than five or ten minutes without this happening.
I am thinking maybe it is the connection. I’m currently at our house in Santa Cruz, and am therefore using dial-up. Plus it’s been raining all day, and I think I heard my mom say flood warning (though I really hope not—this house is right on the beach). Though I’m not sure—it’s stormed while I’ve been on dial-up before, and this has never happened. *sigh* And since it’s dial-up, it’s slow as all hell—I haven’t been able to check more than a tenth of my email, and I had over a hundred messages when I checked.
So anyway, I don’t know what’s going on with my internet connection, and I may not have a consistent one until I get back home, whenever that is. Tomorrow we’re going to call and see what SBC Tech Support says.
Now to figure out what we can do in Santa Cruz in the winter, so we don’t all turn into lazy couch potatoes…*g*

Date: 2004-12-27 08:54 pm (UTC)Is this your own computer? I know my computer would do funky things when I replaced the memory, but if this is your own computer, and you haven't done that, then the best thing you can do is to update your virus protection, start in safe mode, and run a virus scan.
