Fixed the pictures from the Renfaire--there are six of guys in kilts...and one of me. Me in my peasant gear and holding my wakizashi (never mind that it's a Japanese sword and therefore probably doesn't belong at a Renaissance faire...

Anyway. Ye who love men in kilts, check out the pictures here.

Also, I've been missing out on birthdays due to me being tired like whoa and possibly getting sick. So...

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] byronyraven, and happy belated birthdays, [livejournal.com profile] pockettheroach and [livejournal.com profile] nassima!

Also, an update on National Merit--my English teacher last year wrote my letter of recommendation, and gave it to me today to see if there's anything I wanted to change. You know what? She spelled my name wrong. What the fuck is up with so many people spelling my name wrong, especially when the correct spelling is right in front of them? My name is Corinne. Not Corrinne, which is what she put, or Corine and Corrine, which various others have put. Corinne. It's on my damn resume, for crying out loud, and she had it right in front of her to write the letter! Not to mention my RL nickname Corie, which I have seen spelled Cory, Corey, and Corrie, and far more often than how it's really spelled. And then Corinne is nearly always pronounced wrong--my mother said that she gave it one r and two ns so that people would pronounce it like it's meant to be, Cor-in, and not Cor-een, and not, inexplicably, Corina, which is how my principal pronounced it when he made the announcement of who all the National Merit semifinalists are at my school. Not to mention how my last name is mangled, both spelling-wise and pronunciation-wise...but my last name is German, so I suppose it's somewhat understandable.... And then for online, there's bloody Rhynne, and I still have no idea where the h came from...

Also, I had an opthomologist appointment yesterday (which I have instead of an optometrist because of the cataract I had as a baby which resulted in me being half-blind) where I learned that I lack much of the depth perception that most people have because I'm half-blind and that's probably why I had that accident a couple weeks ago, I have a dentist appointment on Thursday, I'm getting sick, I still don't know what's wrong with my laptop, my extra userpics are running out in a couple days and I don't have enough money to both pay for more and buy a commission from [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121, which I want, and I still have to get up at six every day, and will until June, excepting weekends and holidays.

Nope. Not having the best week.

Ew. I suppose the only thing that sucks more than having a hard to spell/pronounce name is a name that SHOULD be easy to spell but for some bizzare reason isn't. (Plus, when I order food at places I usally say "Bonnie", and the last time, the dumbass chick behind the counter actually spelled it "Boney". WTF? That's just embarrasing when they call your name for your food. I'd rather had just tried to explain to her for 10 minutes how to spell "Siobhan".) But having it on an official document sucks much more.

Well, she said she'd fix it before she turned it in, but oi. I had her for the full year last year, and my name was spelled correctly on my resume, which I gave to her so she could write the letter. *sigh* I don't get what's so hard about my name that so many people have trouble spelling it. For that matter, I don't know what's so hard about Siobhan...(which is pretty, btw)

*sigh* I know how you feel. People in RL always spell and pronounce my name wrong. It's so frustrating, and, sometimes, kind of embarrassing. It's not like it's some weird, exotic 12 letter long name, either. Old Irish, yes. But not *that* hard to say! Argh!

Nice pictures. :) That Renfaire looks like fun. Is that you in the last pic? You look so shy and cute. Awwww... :)

My fencing coach of two years spelled my name wrong on our monogrammed team warm-ups. She had corrected it when she gave the list of names (which we had written down ourselves) to the place that did it. WTF.

Heh, thanks. Well, the fact that it's pronounced "Sha-von" usually throws people off. (Although freshmen year of college my official nickname became "Sigh-Oh-Ban"... feh. I got used to it.)

Ok, I can see your last name, but Corinne? That's not hard at all. o.O

Let's see...

Congrats on the National Merit thing.

I've already wished you a happy birthday and thanked you for your lovely Tortall/Diskworld Hobbit gift. But Happy Birthday and thank you again.

I miss Renn Faires (used to work at one as an Irishman for years when I was about your age).

It's lovely to have seen a picture of you.

And Corinne is a great name. One of the most kick-ass ladies I know (she runs a local school) is a co-rin Corinne. Lovely.

*blinks* You had a cataract as a child?! Meep, that's horrible! I always joke about being blind as a bat...but now it's not so funny anymore.

X_x And I hope that didn't come out rude. I didn't mean to. My lack of sleep as just resulted in a lack of tact too. My bad.

As for your name, well, at least be thankful you're last name isn't something vulgar. -_-;;

Oh, the cataract thing isn't that bad. I've been half-blind for about seventeen years now, and so I don't know what it's like to see with both eyes, and doesn't really matter. Or at least it didn't until I'm told I have less depth perception because of it...it just hadn't been a problem before, you know? But heh, I joke about being blind as a bat too. :p No worries.

My last name may not be vulgar, but it's something that it's very easy to tease me about...
