In the great tradition of JRR Tolkien and the Hobbits...

The Hobbits in Lord of the Rings had at least one custom that I have every intention of keeping up, at least today. On their birthdays, they would give other people gifts, rather than getting them themselves, and I rather like this idea, and can't see that it would hurt anything.

I was originally going to say that the first seventeen people who comment will get a drabble in reply to their comment, as I turn seventeen today, but I decided that hey, why not let everyone who has friended me get something? We can pretend that this entry is the party, and everyone who has me friended came and can get a present. Or something. *g* But as I don't want to be inundated with requests from people I have no idea existed, please only the people who have friended me (not just the people I've friended), and I will endeavor to get a drabble to you soon (meaning, within a week). I'm still writing things for some of you, but those are long and somewhat involved, and something shorter would be nice.

So, request anything you like, in a variety of fandoms. I can write in Harry Potter, Good Omens, possibly Discworld, Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and X-2, Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages), Fushigi Yugi, Rurouni Kenshin, Slayers, Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth, Tamora Pierce (Circle of Magic and Tortall), and...a lot more. Ask me if you're not sure if I know a specific fandom. My only request is that if it's Harry Potter (like most will be, I assume), then you not request Remus/Snape or James/Sirius. There are no forbidden pairings in other fandoms, though if you want to know my preferences, feel free to ask.

All you have to do is reply to this post with a fandom and a prompt, which can be shippy or gen. You can ask me for a target rating, only keep in mind that I may not get to that rating. I will then write a drabble, which may possibly turn into something longer, knowing me, and give it to you in a reply to your original comment. So people might want to keep checking back, even if I've already wrote yours, just to see other people's if you like.

Well...let the requests begin!

I would really like it if you wrote some Remus/Sirius, please. :o)

Happy Birthday, BTW!

Somehow, one of the worst things about Sirius's betrayal was that he wasn't in the bed with Remus anymore.

Even in that awful time leading up to Halloween, that bed had been a neutral zone, where they wordlessly agreed to forget their differences and remember their similarities. Even when trust was leaving, love still remained, or everything that happened wouldn't have hurt so much.

But now Sirius was in Azkaban, and their bed was cold and lonely. Remus missed James and Lily and Peter--God, he missed them!--but the empty bed was somehow almost too much, and Remus would forget that Sirius had betrayed them, and only remember that his warm arms wouldn't hold Remus close anymore, and Remus couldn't stop the tears from running silently down his cheeks.

Oooh, Happy Birthday darling!!! *HUGS*

And that hobbit tradition is lovely. Plus it means you get a lot more gifts, in the end! ^_^

As for a drabble (because hey who am I to decline getting a drabble? Exactly)...uh...You know, I really have no idea right now. Anything Harry/Ron would make me yours, though.

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-22 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It took kissing Hermione for Ron to realize that he didn't want to. He broke away, flushing in embarrassment, though he wasn't quite sure what was embarrassing now.

"Er," he said, and Hermione raised a gentle eyebrow at the look on his face.

"I'm not what you want," she said softly, "am I?"

"Er," Ron said again. How did one tell one's best friend that?

Hermione smiled. "That's all right, I really don't mind," she went on. "It was just sort of an...experiment, really. And now we both know how we feel."

Ron blinked, and Hermione's smile blossomed into a grin, and she unexpectedly pulled Ron into a hug. "Go get him, Ron," she whispered in his ear, and let him go. Then she left, and Ron stared after her, wondering what had just happened.

Then he shrugged and decided to go find Harry.

Ooh! Happy 17th! Hope you have as much fun on yours as I had on mine (at least...I think I had fun, I'll have to ask some people and get back to you on that one...*sheepish grin*)

As for drabbles...hm...well, considering I'm a big Harry fan (understatement of the decade), how about some Seamus/Dean (was going to ask for Hermione/Crabbe, but decided against it.)

Happy birthday again!

[identity profile] alpheratz.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Can you write funny Vimes/Vetinari? :D

And Happy Birthday! I hope you have a marvelous day.

[identity profile] lyotto.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hoppy Burpday! I already said it on my own LJ, but I figured I'd comment here, too.

And how about something different for a request? Fushigi Yugi, you say? I haven't read or written any FY for a while. Some Tasuki/Chichiri sounds good to me. No requests for it aside from that.

[identity profile] greenwitch.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, you have something against Sirius/James? Never knew :)

Happy Birthday!

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's partly all the people who insist that if any of MWPP had a relationship with another, it would be Sirius and James rather than Sirius and Remus, because "Sirius and James are closer". Another part is my general dislike of Sirius with someone other than Remus :p. But ah, I dunno, it's just one of the two pairings I can't bring myself to read. *shrugs*

Thanks!

[identity profile] marauderthesn.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Rynne, you are a most excellent hobbit. That's so kind of you. *smiles*

Could you write me Crowley/Aziraphale?

[identity profile] anjenue.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
You're a darling, darling! :D Hobbits are so much better than us, aren't they! Eat, sleep, drink, smoke, and give each other gifts. Sounds like the life for me!

And on that note, some Severus/Draco, fluffy and/or smutty, would be wonderful. :D

Oh, and do NOT forget to go request a drabble from me for the holidays!!! Christmas!!! (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rosesanguina/166768.html)

I do like that. *grin* That tradition. Although I know some who do so anyway. Happy birthday. :)

My request for a drabble might be a little tricksy. Ginny/Luna UST possibly involving a sugar quill ;)

Have fun today :)

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-22 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
There she goes again, racing through my brain, Ginny thought, trying very hard to keep her mind on Arithmancy, and not on Luna.

Of course, it didn't help that Luna was sucking on a sugar quill. Ginny was at once glad and frustrated that Professor Vector allowed them sugar quills in class, and grew even more frustrated because of the dichotomy.

"Ginny, you all right?" Luna whispered from her seat next to Ginny. Vector encouraged the Houses to intermingle in her class, and Ginny and Luna tended to sit together, especially since they started getting closer in fourth year, thanks to Harry. Normally, Ginny kinda liked sitting next to Luna...but she shouldn't like it this much!

"Fine," Ginny whispered back, and told herself to stop looking at Luna and the sugar quill...and her mouth...and her tongue...Ginny shook her head slightly to get the image out of her mind, and hoped Luna hadn't noticed.

"All right," Luna said complacently, smiling and going back to sucking her on sugar quill.

Ginny ground her teeth.

Happy birthday!! I hope the party goes better than expected and that the guests are tolerable.

And I'm loving this idea, greedy person that I am. ^__^ If you're up for it, I'd love to see what you could do with Fushigi Yuugi - Chichiri/Tasuki pairing, rating up to you but I'd love for them to at least kiss.

*Smirk* The really fun part of this is that my own birthday isn't too far away, so if I can respond in kind, let me know. I've never tried writing a drabble before, so can't promise anything readable - but I do promise to spell and punctuate it correctly! ^__~

[identity profile] vixenette.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
*rubs hands together in wicked glee* Hehe. So what do I want as my unbirthday present? Hmm...

I'll go in the opposite direction from the crowd, I think, and request a FF VII fic. Something slashy? This way, you won't spoil actual pairings for me (I'm not through the first disc yet, though I'm at the point where I've got Vincent and I'm at the crossroads between going to...Wudan? and going to the Temple of the Ancients. Which do YOU suggest?) Any rating will do, though you know what I like, and you know how I like it. (Ooh, that sounded dirty. Here I am, a dirty old woman, talking dirty to your young, innocent ears.) Right. :D

Happy, happy birthday, my dear. I'd buy you LJ time/icon space, but lemme guess...you're paid until 2007 on both. Hmm...I like the idea of little gifts, too, so if you email me with your addy, I'll email you back with mine and we can send each other cool stationary! :)

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-17 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you mind being spoiled a bit about plot, though? There are no real ships in FFVII--there're some implied, but you've already got past the date in the Gold Saucer by now, if you're about to either go to Wutai or the Temple of the Ancients (go to Wutai, by the way)--but there's this sorta kinky aspect to my favorite ship, Cloud/Sephiroth, that doesn't show itself until the end of disc one, and there's so much about the characters that doesn't reveal itself until disc two...But anyway, would you mind being spoiled a bit if it was for a good kinky/slashy cause? *g*

:p No, I'm only paid for until July 2005 (! Just remember my icon space runs out in October...), but you don't have to buy me anything!

[identity profile] arislanchan.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 11:07 am (UTC)(link)

Happy birthday! I hope it's a great one!

You know, I don't think I've seen you write anything from a Tamora Pierce fandom. For a prompt... hrm. Something about Buri or George, or something about Sandry.

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-17 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"People in love are boring," Buri complained, on that ride through the desert to visit Alanna.

"You just wait until you fall in love," Thayet replied, and laughed. Then she went back to daydreaming about Jonathan--Buri could see it in the distance in her eyes.

"That's not going to happen," Buri said flatly. Then she went off to practice her archery, because why talk about love and other such nebulous things when one could be doing something practical, like honing one's skills?

"You just wait," Thayet echoed. Buri gritted her teeth and started stringing her bow.

--

The Dancing Dove was deadly silent, and George had had enough of it. He shoved back his chair and stood up, and the eyes of the King of the Thieves flew to him automatically. George walked over to the throne-like chair near the fire, and stared down at his King.

"I challenge you," he said, "for the Kingship of the Court of the Rogue."

It had been brewing for weeks, this challenge, and everyone in the Inn knew it. They were just glad that George had gotten it over with. Even the Rogue's eyes glinted briefly.

"You know what you're doing, boy?" he said softly. George nodded--how could he not? But he knew that he would care for these thieves more than the current king did, that he could keep the Lord Provost from carrying so many of the men away, and that it was time for his star to ascend. "So be it," the Rogue acknowledged, and stood up.

It came as no surprise to anyone when he went down with one of George's knives in his heart. Everyone knew what a master George was with knife fighting, and that he'd cut the tension in the room and in the Court just as easily as he had cut the previous king's skin.

There was silence for a moment, then--"Long live the King!"

George smiled.

Happy birthday, love! If I still lived there, I would take you out to sushi and we could talk slash! But woe, I am stupid and moved. *sigh*

But Discworld? Discworld! DISCWORLD!!!

I would die a happy little hobbit if you constructed a drabblet featuring Nanny Ogg and/or Magrat Garlick and/or Granny Weatherwax. (Granny is my fave, btw, and a guest appearance by Death never goes astray...)

Happy happy happy birthday! You are the bestest! *squeezles*

Uh... my request is fairly easy. Just a nice short R/S drabble. I don't really care what the rating is, just as long as it's very, very fluffy. ^^

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYNNE!!!!!!

You don't have to write me anything, I'll settle for my favorite R/S fic and read that.(and you know what it is, heh)

I feel like such a Hobbit :P

[identity profile] goldennotblonde.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Tammy? You write Tamora Pierce? *squees and hugs you* Can you do a Kel/Dom gritty-real character exploration? I know it's het, but Tammy never gave us anything more than Kel was looking forward to seeing him. *grumbles* You wouldn't happen to know of any good Tortal fics or authors, would you?

I have to second [livejournal.com profile] genarti on Buri or George, they both kick ass. I kinda got bored with the Circle books, they seem to be targeted at a younger age group, but Trickster's Choice had me bouncing off the walls. I can't wait to get my hands on Trickster's Queen - more George!

Happy Birthday!

[identity profile] immortalis.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You are such a peach. <333 It makes me feel horrible that I can't get anything other than shite from my brain as far as fic goes lately, and since I'm a slight perfectionist when it comes to writing, that's why I haven't finished your fic yet. But it should be soon because I'm going home this weekend and I won't know anyone down there.

If you're up to it and don't mind writing it, I'd totally dig some Crowley action with plants. Just gen! No dendrophilia for me, thanks. :D

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-17 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mulch," Crowley said, looking speculatively at his plants, one brownish plant in particular.

The plants quivered under the force of his gave, even if it wasn't directed at most of them.

"Or maybe you want more water? There's a few hurricanes down in Florida that I'm sure would love to donate some water..."

The plants almost shrunk down, before they seemed to realize that Crowley might take that amiss...

"Right," Crowley said decisively. "You want some sun, don't you? Some nice heat? I understand the sentiment."

Crowley took the brownish plant outside into the sun. Not long after, he was seen walking along the streets of London, dusting what looked like ash off his hands.

Crowley's other plants grew greener and taller that everyone else's, causing his neighbors to mutter darkly at him and loudly ask what he did to get them to grow so well.

Crowley smiled mysteriously and told them plenty of sun and water.

Hi and happy birthday!

You had such a nice idea... I feel a bit shy and a bit ashamed, because I've quite never commented in your journal, and now that I'm doing it, I'm requesting a drabble, if I may.

Remus/Sirius, post Azkaban, Time

As a (non-hobbit) birthday present, I'll illustrate it if you're willing to write it :)

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-17 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
O.O Thank you! No one's ever illustrated something of mine before...

--

Time was running out.

Not noticeably, no. The normal clocks weren't running any faster than usual, and Dumbledore's Arithmancer's Clock didn't whisper its message of Hurry, hurry as it had in 1981.

But time was running out, and somehow Remus knew it. He watched Sirius pace around his mother's room that now housed Buckbeak, and almost got dizzy when Sirius walked around and around, always clockwise, every cycle completed like an hour passed, and time just seemd to fall away as if it had never been in the first place.

Remus wanted to grab the time and slow it down. He wanted to stop the minutes of their lives ticking away, to stop time so that he and Sirius could just rest for a bit. He wanted to lie on their bed with his head on Sirius's chest and think of nothing but the sound of Sirius's heartbeat and the movement of his chest as he breathed, and not remember that in just a matter of time, they both would have to get up and leave that bed and take up their duties again.

Though of course, time would stop for no man, and it was running out. Remus just hoped that he would still be able to listen to Sirius's heart beat at the end of it all.

Happy birthday! Always a wonderful thing...

Would you consider a Tortall/Diskworld crossover--Alianne/Death?

(I just finished reading Trickster's Choice and am now picking up Night Watch and Wyrd Sisters. Why do you ask?)

[identity profile] rynne.livejournal.com 2004-09-17 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Aly woke in the middle of the night, and found herself in a very familiar state of not-quite-waking, but there was something different about this one--where was Kyprioth? He normally came to her during these not-dreams, so where was he now?

HELLO, ALIANNE, a voice said out of the shadows, and Aly whirled in the directed it came from to see a familiar black-cowled figure.

"You can talk?" Aly blinked--and then cursed herself. That could be counted disrespect, couldn't it? But no one had ever told her that the Black God could talk...

Thankfully, the God of Death seemed to find her amusing. YES, it--He?--said. I DON'T OFTEN CHOOSE TO, BUT YES, I CAN TALK.

"Er." Aly shifted nervously, then sighed. "I suppose I'm supposed to go with you, then?" She frowned. "Though forgive me if I can't quite figure out why...I didn't eat something poisonous, did I? No one's come and cut my throat in my sleep?"

NO, NO, the figure said. YOU ARE STILL ALIVE.

"Meaning no disrepect, then, sir, but why are you here?" Aly looked at the Black God, and was surprised to see it look almost...sad? Did gods get sad?

I GET...LONELY, SOMETIMES, the voice said, and seemed to sigh. YOU SEEMED LIKE ONE WHO WOULD NOT MIND KEEPING ONE SUCH AS MYSELF COMPANY FOR A NIGHT.

"Oh," Aly said. Company? Well, she could do that, she supposed. "I'd be honored to keep you company, then."

THANK YOU, ALIANNE. And, for a moment, that aura of sadness seemed to lift.
