Somehow, one of the worst things about Sirius's betrayal was that he wasn't in the bed with Remus anymore.

Even in that awful time leading up to Halloween, that bed had been a neutral zone, where they wordlessly agreed to forget their differences and remember their similarities. Even when trust was leaving, love still remained, or everything that happened wouldn't have hurt so much.

But now Sirius was in Azkaban, and their bed was cold and lonely. Remus missed James and Lily and Peter--God, he missed them!--but the empty bed was somehow almost too much, and Remus would forget that Sirius had betrayed them, and only remember that his warm arms wouldn't hold Remus close anymore, and Remus couldn't stop the tears from running silently down his cheeks.
