Two more days until I post my Big Bang. Of course, my feelings at this point are, "It SUUUUUCKS. NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO WANT TO READ THIS THING EVER. I'M WAY TOO WORDY AND MY PROSE IS SO PURPLE IT'S BARNEY AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO SHOW INSTEAD OF TELL."

And then I tell myself, fuck it, it's too late to change MY ENTIRE WRITING STYLE, whatevs.

So...I will keep telling myself that. XD

Now that it's so close to my posting date, though, I keep thinking about the sequels I've already finished. Part of me doesn't want to touch them yet, even though it's been several months since I finished them, and part of me wants to rip them apart. I think I'm going to postpone the pre-beta editing they both need until winter break.

Though, speaking of the sequels -- the last time I asked I had no takers, but now there are a few more K/S people on my flist. My beta for the big bang doesn't think she'll have time to do the sequels, so...would anyone else like to beta them? The ones I have right now are the further adventures of Kirk Prime and Spock Prime in the Rebootverse, but when I have more time I'll also be writing some nu!K/S stories in that same universe as well. I would really appreciate at least one person willing to stick with the universe.

What I'm looking for in a beta is someone who can mostly help with plot and character. Telling me if my plot doesn't make sense, and my characters don't make sense, and then having some suggestions for fixing that. Grammar is not a priority, so don't think you can't help if you think your grammar sucks. I'm pretty good at finding and fixing my own grammar mistakes -- what I need help with are the things that go more in depth.

If I don't get any responses from my flist, I'll be asking when I put up my masterpost for the big bang. I just really, really would like at least one beta for this universe, preferably two.

In other internet fandom news, I went to talk to the professor who gave the lecture I went to last week, who's a member of the OTW. I can't say I've thought all that much about the OTW since it started up, but after the lecture I went to check it out and I saw that it had a legal committee one could volunteer for, so I went to ask my professor about that. She said there were things even a first year law student could do, and it would count towards pro bono hours. So...starting next semester, I think I'll be volunteering for the OTW.

I just hope that by then the legal side of the internet won't have exploded. Because oh my God, SOPA and its Senate counterpart.... I'm calling my Congresspeople, and everyone else should too.

K/S Prime in the reboot verse? I'm there!

I'd be happy to help. I'm someone who's quite good at analyzing plots and keeping all the threads neat... it's just the fleshing it out into a full story that I'm finding a challenge, which is why I haven't posted any fic yet. But betaing, sure. :)

Thank you! It'll be a few weeks before they're ready, so if you could give me your email at some point that would be great.

Your writing style is fine :) The second draft you sent me all those weeks ago is very readable and concise, and that's all that matters.

I'm sorry I've been MIA. Real life has absolutely devoured my time, and I haven't been participating in fandom AT ALL. It's no excuse, but I hope you know that your bigbang is fine. It was good the first time 'round, but as you know, sometimes I'm better at dishing out criticism than remembering to point out the positive. At one point or another, everyone thinks they've written the worst story ever. Don't like self-doubt get to you :)

I'm sorry I can't commit to betaing anymore because of RL. But I will definitely want to read more in this verse. Good luck with everything!

Heh. Well, you know how nerves go. This would have been a lot easier if I didn't have to wait so long. I'm glad you think it's fine, though. :p

And hey, no worries. I get being busy, and RL is a priority.
